By 2019, Porsche has been preparing to launch a coupe version of its best-selling SUV, Cayenne. Porsche has noticed, over the years, that there is a segment of the market which has not been tapped by the German automaker. Other automakers like Mercedes and BMW has already penetrated the coupe segment with vehicles like X6 and X4.
The coupe version of Cayenne will compete with BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE coupe and will accompany the third generation of the SUV. With the introduction of the coupe version of the Cayenne, consumers will be able to sift through a broader category of Cayenne lineup. Currently there is only a single body type and petrol and hybrid versions are available for the Cayenne SUV.
As far as the exterior of the vehicle is concerned, the front end of the coupe is same as the normal Cayenne. The major changes are made to the roofline of the SUV which is more sloping at the rear for the coupe. The front bumper of the SUV has also been tweaked to make it sportier and due to the sloping roofline, the rear windows are also altered. The taillights have also been changed to reflect the sporty nature of the car. Taking a look at the rear of the car, one can see the resemblance with Porsche Panamera.
Porsche is looking into a diesel variant of the normal Cayenne; however, it does not aim at doing the same for the coupe version. Since coupes are usually sportier versions of the base line cars, same is the case with Cayenne coupe. Coupe will be performance oriented and will house a 440 bhp twin-turbocharged engine with a displacement of 2.9 liter V6. For more performance, consumers will be able to opt for a V8 twin-turbocharged 4.0 liter petrol engine that will be able to produce 550 bhp.
