Apple Launches iPhone 15, Watch Series 9 & Watch Ultra 2

Arguably the biggest annual tech event of the year is over, and as expected, it has ended, but not without launching four new iPhones and two Apple smartwatches – Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. Sorry, gadgets geeks, there is no new or updated Vision Pro in this event, though the Apple CEO has said the spatial computing headset is on schedule for an early 2024 release.

In this blog, we will cover what has been launched at Apple’s annual launch event dubbed ‘Wonderlust,’ but in brief. We will cover each of them in detail in our blog section, so stay tuned.

iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Plus

The standard iPhone 15 retains its $799 starting price and incorporates features from the previous year’s iPhone 14 Pro. It includes:

  • A16 Bionic chipset
  • 48MP main camera
  • Dynamic Island cutout to replace the front display notch
  • Improvements in Portrait mode, Night mode, and Smart HDR
  • Displays will be brighter compared to the iPhone 14 models

Notably, the iPhone 15 ditches the Lightning port in favor of a USB-C port.

The only difference between the two is of display size. You will be paying $100 more for a bigger display size in iPhone 15 Plus.

iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro Max

The Pro iPhones have undergone significant changes, including the adoption of USB-C connectivity. These phones are now powered by the A17 Pro chip, which offers superior speed, efficiency, and enhanced gaming capabilities compared to the A16 Bionic.

Regarding camera upgrades, the Pro models receive the same computational photography improvements as the iPhone 15, along with a larger main sensor. The iPhone 15 Pro Max introduces a new telephoto lens with a tetra-prism design, enabling a 5x optical zoom.

The new Pro models feature a lighter titanium frame, replacing the stainless steel frame of the iPhone 14 Pro, and they come with a customizable action button that replaces the mute switch.

Apple Watch Series 9

The new Apple smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 9, comes with a performance-enhancing S9 SiP chip. It now includes on-device Siri, an improved U2 ultrawide-band chip for precise locating, and a brighter display.

One standout feature is the double-tap gesture, where you can simply tap your index finger and thumb twice to control various apps. This gesture allows you to manage phone calls, control playback, and more with ease.

Additionally, the Apple Watch 9 is noteworthy for being Apple’s first carbon-neutral product, thanks to a series of eco-friendly changes.

The Apple Watch Series 9 is similar to the Series 8, with prices starting at $399 for the 41mm GPS model and $499 for GPS + cellular. The 45mm version starts at $429 and goes up to $529 for cellular. Additionally, there are two other models: the $799 Apple Watch Ultra 2 and the Apple Watch SE (2022) starting at $249.

Apple Watch Ultra 2

The enhancements seen in the Apple Watch 9 also apply to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, including the use of the S9 chip. Furthermore, the Ultra 2 features a display that can reach a brightness of up to 3,000 nits and supports a broader elevation range.

The main difference between the Apple Watch 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 is their price. The Apple Watch 9 starts at $399, while the Ultra 2 costs $799 and only comes in an LTE-capable configuration at that price.
