PS5 Slim: Design, Specs, Release Date & Price in Pakistan

Sony is about to release a slimmer version of the PS5, although they’re not calling it the “PS5 Slim.” It’s simply referred to as the “new PS5.” This updated version is 18% lighter for the Digital model and 24% lighter for the Disc drive model. Internally, it’s mostly the same, but it now has a larger 1TB SSD compared to the original 825GB SSD.

One significant change is the addition of an external disc drive, allowing you to play physical games on the Digital Edition. This means you can buy the cheaper digital version and add a disc drive later if needed.

How Slim Is The New PS5?

On the PlayStation blog section, the company claims, “The new PS5 has been reduced in volume by more than 30%, and its weight by 18% and 24% compared to the previous models.”

New PS5 Design

Other than its smaller size, the new PS5 comes with a significant design change, featuring four cover panels instead of two on the original model. The Digital Edition allows for the removal of the bottom right panel to add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive. It’s likely the add-on drive will come with a spare cover because the original won’t fit after adding the drive.

The internal specifications remain mostly the same, but the new PS5 now has a larger 1TB SSD, 16GB of GDDR6 memory, and an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 CPU. However, the console’s Wi-Fi remains at Wi-Fi 6, while Microsoft’s Brooklin Xbox Series X offers faster Wi-Fi options.
