Release Date and Price in Pakistan

Sony released the PS5 worldwide on November 19th in 2020. It was initially hard to get hands on it because of its high demand. The PS5 is available in Pakistan now at Rs.180,000.

Xbox Series X was released by Microsoft a few days prior to PS5’s release, on 10th of November in the same year. The price is around Rs.130,000.

However, the dollar fluctuation may cause the prices to vary.

Design

The PS5 is gigantic in size compared to other consoles. It has a unique design which appears quite different from the previous models. It is shaped like a high tower and can be placed horizontally or vertically. The weight stands at around 4.5 kg.

Xbox Series X looks completely different from a PS5. It looks more like a cuboid box which hardly differs in weight from the PS5. It can be used vertically or horizontally as well. It looks more compact but does not beat the elegant shape of PS5.

Result: PS5 is more visually appealing than Xbox Series X.

Performance

The PS5 comes with a DualSense controller. The controller has adaptive triggers which enhances the gaming experience and doubles the fun. The graphics are visually striking. It almost makes you feel like you are on the other side of the screen. The PS5 has a faster SSD which means the loading time is shorter. It operates silently, unlike the previous model PS4.

Xbox Series X does not offer a new controller but the performance has improved to a great extent. The visuals are fascinating and the gaming experience is unmatched. The SSD is slightly slower but the difference in loading time is almost negligible. Xbox runs with minimal noise too.

Result: The PS5 lacks some features which the Xbox Series X provides and vice versa but the overall performance of both is exceptional.

Games

PS5 backwards compatibility allows you to enjoy almost all PS4 games. PlayStation has launched exclusive titles in its new console. The games collection of PS5 is exhilarating. By subscribing to PS Plus, you can also enjoy the new feature on PS5 called the ‘PlayStation Plus Collection’. This feature allows you to download some of the best PS4 games for free like Uncharted 4.

Horizon Forbidden West, The excellent Returnal, Demon’s Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Ghostwire Tokyo are the games which only the PS5 owners can enjoy.

Xbox offers a Game Pass which gives Xbox exclusives on released data and has lots of other exciting offers. Xbox Series X has backwards compatibility to all Xbox generations. You can play all the games you used to play on Xbox, Xbox One and Xbox 360 with a more fun and advanced experience. Some of the most common games offered by Xbox Series X are Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed. The speed and graphics of the games are excellent providing up to 120 frames per second.

The ‘Quick Resume’ feature in Xbox allows you to continue your game from where you left off on Xbox One. Some Xbox games can also run on PC.

There is a plus point offered by both the gaming consoles. If you and your friend own similar consoles, you can connect online and play games with each other.

Result: The game pads are entirely different in PS5 and Xbox Series X but the running of games is absolutely smooth on both these consoles. There are some games like the popular Fortnite which both devices offer. Cloud gaming is also available for PlayStation and Xbox users. However, if the new and thrilling collection of games is to be considered, PS5 wins this round.

Final Verdict

The consoles cost the same and do not differ much in competence. PS5 and Xbox Series X are powerful devices which offer smooth gameplay. The compatibility support of both consoles is amazing. Your purchase revolves around two factors: which console you like better or which one your friends have, so you all can team up and play. Your choice of the console should depend on the collection of games you would like to play as that is the only major difference among PS5 and Xbox Series X.
