Great news for people interested in Canadian visas as the Canada Visa Application Center in Islamabad is going to be reopened (as per various reports). A decade ago, the visa center was shifted to Abu Dhabi and the UK. It was done due to the security concerns at that time which seem to be gone now. The Canadian government has allocated sufficient funds for the visa center to be re-established in Pakistan.
It is a great diplomatic achievement as the relocation of the visa center in Pakistan will help Canadian immigration officials to verify the credentials of applications within Pakistan. Due to this, the visa application processing time will also be reduced.
There are 2 major developments (reported) behind this decision. The first one is that a request was made by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada for the reopening of the visa center again in Pakistan. It was communicated to the Canadian government that many other countries are reopening their visa application centers in the country as the security situation has improved in Pakistan.
The 2nd development is more recent. The Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan (Raja Pervez Ashraf) went on an official visit to Canada in August this year for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference held in Halifax. During his meetings with the speakers of the House of Commons and Senate of Canada, the speaker of Pakistan urged his Canadian counterparts to reopen their visa application centers in Pakistan.
Reopening the Canada Visa Application Center in Islamabad is a much-appreciated step. It will reduce the visa application processing time which is going to be a sigh of relief for people who are looking to apply for a Canadian Visa from Pakistan. Currently, there is no confirmation of when the center will reopen in Pakistan.
