How To Rotate Laptop Screen In Windows 7, 8 and 10

Not many know that it is actually possible to rotate your laptop screen. You may want to do this for a variety of reasons – change the orientation of the screen, hit a wrong key which alters the orientation, etc.

Shortcut To Rotate Screen In Windows 7, 8 and 10

There are some display rotation shortcut keys that help you choose your preferred screen orientation. Generally, it involves pressing one or two buttons and then changing the mode of your display by one of the arrow keys. 

Hitting the upward arrow button will bring back your screen to landscape orientation, while hitting any other arrow button will change it according to the respective direction.

Typical key combinations are:

CTRL + arrow

CTRL + Alt + arrow

CTRL + Shift + arrow

These combinations work on Windows 7, 8 and 10. Most of the time the combination of these keys work but if they don’t, you can use one of the processes mentioned below according to the Windows you have.

Rotate Your Screen With Display Menu in Windows 7 and 8

There are various methods of rotating your screen with the display menu. 

Method 1: 

The easiest way to rotate your screen using the display menu is by following this method:

Step 1: Go to the desktop.

Step 2: Using your mouse, right click on the desktop and click on the screen resolution tab.

Step 3: Click on the orientation drop down menu and select the orientation that you would want your screen to display.

Step 4: Click on apply and that is it.

Method 2: 

There is another method that you can use:

Step 1: Go to the start menu.

Step 2: Search and select Control Panel.

Step 3: Go to Appearance and Personalization and then display.

Step 4: You will see the orientation drop down menu.

Step 5: Click on the menu and choose the mode of your choice.

Step 6: Click on apply and your screen will rotate as per your chosen orientation.

Rotate Your Screen With Display Menu in Windows 10

The process of rotating the screen in Windows 10 is more or less the same; however, there are a few differences. 

Method 1:

Step 1: Right click on the laptop and select display settings.

Step 2: If you have multiple monitors, choose the screen you want to fix (Skip this step if there is just one).

Step 3: Click on the orientation drop down menu.

Step 4: Pick the orientation that you want to be displayed on the screen.

Step 5: Click apply to save changes.

Method 2:

Step 1: Go to the start menu.

Step 2: Search and select Settings.

Step 3: Click on the orientation drop down menu.

Step 4: Choose the orientation method that you prefer.

Step 5: Click apply or OK to save changes.
