Everyone needs to take a screenshot on their laptop some time. You might need to capture an image that is not getting downloaded or save a proof of something like a high score in a game, etc. You might also need to take screenshots frequently depending upon your work type. However, not many know how to take a screenshot on their laptop.

How to take a screenshot on Windows 10/11 and other versions

There are different ways to take a screenshot on Windows laptops. Ways to take a screenshot on Windows laptops are almost the same for every version (7, 8, 10, 11). We have gathered some of the easiest ways to do it.

1. Use Print Screen Button 

The fastest and easiest way to take a screenshot on a Windows laptop (Hp, Dell, Lenovo, etc.) is to press the “print screen” button or “fn+print screen” buttons simultaneously. It will take a snapshot of the entire screen. To save it, all you need to do is to open the paint and click the paste button or press “ctrl+v”. Now click the file button on the top left side and save the picture in the desired folder.

*in the latest windows versions, you don’t need to open paint and paste the image. You will be directly asked to capture an area and save it in the desired location.

If the above-mentioned keys don’t work, you can capture screenshot using “windows + print screen” keys.

2. Use Snipping Tool

Most window versions have this tool. All you need is press the “window” button on the keyboard and search for a snipping tool. Click it and the tool will open. Now, you have to click on new. Select the area to screenshot with a mouse or touchpad. When you release the cursor click, a new window will open. Here you can save the picture by clicking the save snipping button on the 2nd bar and choose the desired location to save the file.

3. Shortcut

Here is a shortcut for Windows 10. “Window+shift+s” are the buttons you need to press together. Now select the area you want to save. After this, open the Paint app and click paste or “ctrl+v”. It will paste your snapped picture in it. Now, click on the “file” button on top left and then “save” the file at the desired location.

How to screenshot on Mac

Capturing a screenshot on Mac is easier than you think. All you need is to press “shift+command+3” together. In the case you want to take a screenshot of a specific portion, click “shift+command+4” together. These screenshots will be saved on the desktop.

How to screenshot on Chromebook

Method 1

To take a screenshot on Chromebook, press “shift+ctrl+show windows” buttons simultaneously. Now select the screenshot in the menu. Then you will have to select from the following options. 

  • Take a full screen screenshot 
  • Take a partial screenshot 
  • Take a window screenshot 

These screenshots will be saved in the downloads folder. You can also shift them to the desired folder.

Method 2

Here is another method to take a screenshot on chromebook.

Step1:

Go to “quick settings” and click “screen capture”

Step 2:

Now select from the following options:

  • Entire screen
  • A single window
  • A specific part of your screen

Select the area in the case of a partial screen.

Step 3:

After selection, click the “capture” button.

Step 4:

Once done, the screenshot will be added to your clipboard. Click it and save at the desired location.
