After barring Pakistanis from entering Kuwait for 10 years (2011 – 2021), the State of Kuwait has once again opened family, business and work visas for Pakistanis. 

Pakistan and Kuwait have enjoyed strong, brotherly ties for a long time. Pakistanis have been going to Kuwait for work ever since it became an independent state in 1961. For many Pakistanis Kuwait is one of the best places to work in the Middle East. While initially people used to consider Kuwait only when they were looking for jobs, now a lot of people visit the country to meet their family/relatives.

Kuwait Visit Visa for Pakistanis 

A company or a resident of Kuwait can sponsor your visa. If you want to visit Kuwait for the purpose of traveling or visiting family, you need to fulfill the following requirements:

  • A valid passport which must be valid for 6 months and its photocopy
  • A completely filled visa application form
  • Two recent passport size photographs
  • A health document
  • Vaccination certificate which shows that the last dose of vaccine was taken 14 days before departure

How Much Does the Kuwait Visit Visa Cost?

At the time of writing, the cost of a family visit visa was 3 Kuwaiti dinar (KD). 

How Long Is the Visa Valid for?

You can use a Kuwait visit visa to enter within 90 days of its issue date. Visitors can stay for upto 30 days straight in the country. 

Kuwait Residence Visa

There are multiple reasons as to why people want to apply for a residency in Kuwait. While some are working in the country, others want to bring their family to live with them. 

There are three types of Kuwait residence visa – work visa, dependent visa and domestic visa. 

Work Visa

Work visa, also known as Iqama, is a residence permit granted to people who work in either the public or a private sector. To obtain an Iqama in Kuwait, you need to first accept an employment offer.

Some requirements for a Kuwait work visa for Pakistanis are as follows:

  • A valid passport 
  • Completed visa application form issued by the Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • HIV test
  • Passport size photograph
  • Police clearance certificate showing no criminal record
  • A health certificate from a local physician which certifies that the applicant is free from any contagious disease and is in good health

If someone is on a visit visa and they accept the employment, they have to leave the country and return on their work visa. 

Dependent Visa

Once a man gets a residency in Kuwait, he can bring his wife and children to live with them. To do that, it is mandatory for the employee to earn at least 450 KD every month in case he is applying for a 17-visa. However, in case of an 18-visa, he should be earning 650 KD every month. 

If both a man and his wife work in Kuwait, they can sponsor their children; however, their combined salary should be more than 350 KD a month.  

There are a few limitations for this visa type:

  • A wife cannot sponsor her husband
  • You cannot sponsor your son who is 21 years old or above, whereas you can sponsor adult daughters and parents
  • Dependent family members are not allowed to work until and unless they have a Kuwait work visa. 

Some requirements for the dependent visa include the following:

  • A copy of the dependant’s passport
  • A complete visa application form
  • Passport size photographs
  • Copy of his civil ID
  • Salary certificate of the sponsor
  • Original Kuwait Family Visa permit letter
  • Health report approved by the country’s physician within the last two months
  • A letter from the physician confirming the necessary immunization for children (This is valid only for children who are below the age of 18 years)
  • An authenticated copy of a marriage or child birth certificate from the sponsor’s country of origin

How Much Does the Dependent Visa Cost?

At the time of writing, the cost of dependent visa was as follows:

Private Sector Employees:
100 KD per person in the first year for wife and the first two borns
200 KD per person for the remaining kids

Public Sector Employees:

10 KD per person in the first year for wife and the first two borns
100 KD per person for the remaining children 

Renewal Fees:

10 KD per person for the sponsor’s wife and children

200 KD per person for sponsor’s in-laws or parents

Domestic Servant Visa

A domestic servant visa is issued to an employee’s full-time servant who has to come from another country. The resident will sponsor this visa. 

Some conditions for applying for a domestic servant visa are as follows:

  • If you are hiring a female servant, your wife should be living with you
  • Age limit for servants is between 20-50 years
  • This visa type does not apply to your immediate family members or relatives

Note: There are no salary requirements if both husband and wife are working and if the family includes children.

Some requirements for a domestic servant visa include:

  • Salary certificates of sponsor and his wife
  • Photocopy of sponsor and his wife’s passports
  • Photocopy of sponsor and his wife’s civil ID
  • Photocopy of servant’s work contract
  • Photocopy of house rental agreement
  • Proof of ages of children (photocopy of passport or local birth certificate)

How Much Does the Domestic Servant Visa Cost?

The servant has to pay a residence fee of 200 KD in the first year and KD 10 in the upcoming years.
