Fortuner, Revo & Hilux Prices Increased w.e.f. February 1, 2022

We have recently run a blog on how the current government wants to establish a board to control increasing automobile prices in the country. Throwing caution to the wind, Indus Motor Company Ltd (IMC) have increased the prices of Toyota Fortuner, Hilux and Revo. However, to their credit they have also introduced new features in these vehicles to justify the price hike. The price increase however is not immediate as it will take effect in February 2022.

Those who have booked these vehicles and are now wondering whether they’ll have to pay the difference for delivery, the answer is unfortunately yes.

Let’s take a look at the new features and the price.

Toyota Fortuner

Fortuner 4×4 (S4) – The “new” variant will now be available with:

  • Dual Zone AC – Separate climate controls for the driver and the passenger
  • Clearance Sonar – Front and rear parking sensors

Fortuner 4×4 Hi (V) – This variant has got three new features:

  • Dual Zone AC – Separate climate controls for the driver and the passenger
  • Clearance Sonar – Front and rear parking sensors
  • 4×4 Diff Lock – All wheels spin at the same speed, an excellent feature on a rough terrain

Fortuner 4×2 Lo (G) – This variant will now come with:

Is the price hike justified?

There’s a specific socio-economic class which buys Fortuners and Revos. Considering this, the price hike is minimal and in return they’ll be getting essential safety features like clearance sonar and comfort features including dual zone AC, sliding front seat, central console and 4×4 Diff Lock. We, therefore, do not see the sales of these two vehicles declining after the price hike in February 2022.

Fortuner’s year-on-year (YOY) sales numbers are very impressive – the company sold 107% more Fortuners in 2021 than in 2020. The month-on-month (MOM) sales have however declined by 17%. The company would be hoping to pick up on these after the introduction of new Fortuners and Revos in February 2022.

Lets us know if you found this blog informative. Also, do you think this price hike is justified?
