The Apple event or as the Apple lovers would call it – the biggest tech launch of the year – happened on September 7, 2022 in California.
Streamed live from the Steve Jobs Theatre, Apple Park, California, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO welcomed everyone and then started shedding light on the importance and omnipresence of Apple’s three products – iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watches.
Then Jeff Williams, Apple’s COO, introduced Apple’s ever expanding smartwatches, followed by other Apple executives introducing AirPods and the much-awaited iPhones.
All in all, Apple has introduced 8 new devices and before you ask what they are, here’s a quick snapshot of them for you to browse:
8 New Apples
The eight new devices consist of four iPhones, three Apple watches and one Airpods. And here’s the basic information on them. We will be doing detailed blogs on these, so stay tuned.
iPhone 14
Your wait is over as Apple has finally launched the iPhone 14 series. The company has discontinued the iPhone mini model from its lineup, so now “iPhone 14” is the base model. iPhone 14 has almost the same body design, display (quality & size), water resistance, protection (front & back) etc. as iPhone 13 had. Not only this, but the chip (A15 Bionic) and RAM + Storage options are the same as you can find in iPhone 13. The software is upgraded though.
For camera lovers, iPhone 14 has a 12 MP main camera but now produces larger pixels 1.9µm vs 1.7µm pixels of iPhone 13. Its ultrawide (12 MP) selfie (12 MP), and video cameras are unchanged (except for the introduction of Cinematic Mode for video recording). This phone now has a satellite connection so you can send text emergency services if you don’t have cell service. Also, its US model comes with an E-Sim now (no sim tray).

iPhone 14 Plus
We told you about Apple planning to introduce a new model in the iPhone 14 series in this blog. It is now official as iPhone 14 Plus has made its debut. Surprisingly, it has the same display size as iPhone 14 Pro Max (but without the dynamic island punchhole camera cutout). It has a larger size (160.8 x 78.1 x 7.8 mm) than iPhone 14 and 14 Pro. Its design (sides, shape, camera module, notch in display, etc.) is almost identical with the iPhone 14.
Talking about its performance, it comes with A15 Bionic chipset, IOS 16, and 4GB RAM options so performance is going to be almost the same as of iPhone 14 or iPhone 13. All of its cameras are just like the iPhone 14. In the US, it comes with an E-Sim option (no sim tray) and has satellite connectivity for emergencies.

iPhone 14 Pro
Pro models of iPhone 14 have major upgrades in multiple ways. iPhone 14 Pro is a bit larger and thicker than its predecessor iPhone 13 Pro. There are no major upgrades in design when we look at it from the back but it has a thicker camera bump. Front side is upgraded massively with the LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED 120Hz display (6.1-inch) and dynamic island (shape shifting) punchhole camera cutout. iPhone 14 Pro has got the all new Apple A16 Bionic (4 nm) chipset which is the best from Apple till now. You get 6 GB RAM and Storage of 128GB-1TB. So, you are going to get a massive performance upgrade if you choose this model.
Not only performance but its camera department is upgraded as compared to its predecessor (iPhone 13 Pro). It has got a 48 MP primary camera now. Yes! 48 MP camera in an iPhone. All the other cameras are the same as you get in iPhone 13 Pro (except the introduction of cinematic mode now). iPhone 14 Pro Max
Here comes the top of the line iPhone 14 model. iPhone 14 Pro Max comes with almost the same body size, design and camera module as iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, there are major upgrades in its display (6.7-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED 120Hz & Always on Display now). The notch is replaced with the game changing Dynamic Island (shape shifting) punchhole cutout. We will update you about this technology and its features later on.
You can expect no less than supreme performance from an iPhone Pro Max. It has the latest and the most powerful Apple chipset (A16 Bionic). It comes with a 6 GB RAM and 128GB-1TB storage options. Also, it has got the latest Apple software iOS 16.
The primary camera of iPhone 14 Pro Max is going to be the best till now. It has now got a 48 MP primary camera. However, all the other cameras are almost the same as available in iPhone 13 Pro Max. The other amazing features are satellite connectivity & E-Sim (US models).

Apple Watch 8
Apple Watch 8 promises to meet all your expectations with the new and improved features it has brought. A new temperature sensor has been introduced targeted towards helping women with reproductive planning. It keeps a track of ovulation and other things related to women’s health. You could call it a feminist watch.
The coolest rumored feature has turned out to be true. Apple Watch 8 supports satellite connectivity! Other features include crash detection feature and a low-power mode. If you are caught in an accident, the crash detection feature in the watch sends out emergency messages for your help using satellite connectivity. Secondly, the low-power mode helps the battery to last longer, giving it a great battery life. Apple Watch 8 with the GPS-only version would cost you $399.
Apple Watch SE (2022)
Instead of calling it Apple Watch SE 2, as rumored, Apple has decided to name their SE Watch series by putting their release year upfront. Just like Apple Watch 8, this watch also comes with crash detection and low-battery mode features. It is relatively cheaper than the other two smartwatches, starting at $249.
Apple Watch Ultra
Perfection is the word for it. Initially rumored to be called Apple Watch 8 Pro, Apple Watch Ultra is probably the best watch Apple has released yet. It is an entirely new smartwatch specially designed for athletes and people who work under extreme conditions. It has a sturdy 49mm case and the biggest display size in any Apple watch yet. It promises a more precise GPS and an exceptional battery life.
For a great watch like this, the price is cheaper than we expected. It was rumored to be $999 but the original price is $799.
AirPods Pro 2
The all new AirPods Pro 2 will cost you $249 and can be preordered starting on September 9; the company starts shipping them on September 23, 2022. And now to the million dollar question – are they better than their predecessors? YES!
AirPods Pro 2 are wireless earbuds and while they are similar to the previous ones in color (yes they are available in white only) and the protruding stick design, they sound better, last longer and are harder to lose.
So what’s new in AirPods Pro 2? Capacitive touch control – swiping your fingers up and down on the outer surface of the device to adjust volume. A new H2 chip, which ensures excellent noise cancellation. Battery can be charged through a variety of devices including the Apple Watch charger, lightning wired charging, Apple MagSafe and Qi wireless charging.
In comparison with the previous Airpods, the battery life is better too. Other worth mentioning new features are a low distortion speaker and custom amplifier for better audio quality.
