They mimic speech for you, answer your questions, do silly things and what not! But to do all of it they need the energy which they gain from the right kind of food. If you are a to-be parrot owner, you might be confused as to what to feed your parrot and what to avoid.

Things Your Parrots Can Eat

Following are some of the things that your parrot can eat:

Fruits

There are different types of fruits that you can feed your little buddy. It all depends on what is easily available and what your pet enjoys eating. There are a variety of fruits that you can feed your parrot. Some of these include:

Vegetables

Seeds

You can also feed seeds to your parrots. While some people use it as a treat, others use it on a daily basis. You can use millet seeds, canary seeds, flax seeds and hemp seeds for your parrots.

Nuts

Nuts are extremely nutritious for your bird, especially walnuts. The nutritional value present in walnuts is not present in any other nuts.

Nuts taste good and many people give it to their birds as treats. Whenever you are feeding nuts to your parrot, make sure that they are clean. Certain types of fungus grow on nuts that can cause health issues. 

Fresh Foods

Contrary to popular opinion, parrots can feed on more than just nuts and seeds. You can feed your parrot different kinds of fresh foods. Along with fruits and vegetables, you can also feed your parrot rice, oats, barley, and quinoa.

Peppers

Not all humans love eating peppers but parrots love them. If you haven’t tried giving chilies to your parrot yet, do give it a shot and watch your little buddy chomp on it.
