Toyota C-HR Design
There is a reason why this SUV looks like it’s from the movies. Toyota C-HR comes with large angular headlights, creased and grooved sides, and a coupe-like sloppy back with raised tail lights. The latest Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) imports of the C-HR have a new scrolling indicator and facelift bumper design, which further adds to the intrinsic beauty of this car.
The front of the car is unlike any other SUV in its class. Large projector LEDs on the front encompass a large blueish Toyota hybrid logo. Below the logo, there is a sleek grille followed by another mesh grille on the front bumper. Some models have extended sports kits, which further lower the front end of the car.
The side profiles have premium plastic claddings throughout the body of the vehicle. Toyota C-HR design has a very prominent set of character lines flowing throughout the car’s body. The rear door handles are present on the back pillar of this SUV. The rear lights feel like the lights on the Civic X. Much like the front, the rear is also well equipped with grooves that compliment the sportiness of this compact SUV.
Toyota C-HR Interior
The sportiness of the outside can be felt inside too. The use of hand-stitched material on the steering wheel and the dashboard places it right next to the premium SUVs. The multimedia steering wheel has a glossy finish with a piano black element, making it even more enjoyable to drive. The glossy piano blacks are common throughout the center console, gearbox, and dashboard. An 8-inch floating infotainment display in the center is followed by dual-zone digital climate control.
Toyota C-HR uses an analog meter cluster with a 4.2 MID display for necessary car information. Extra padding on the center console and door panels, comfortable seats, soft suspension, and premium interior make it a quality experience to ride a Toyota C-HR.
For rear passengers getting in and out of the vehicle may be tricky due to the lowered roof. However, once you get in, leg space is no issue. Though, the interior may feel claustrophobic to the rear passengers due to compromised headroom and small windows. Having said that, three headrests on the back make sure everyone is comfortable and cozy.
Toyota C-HR Hybrid has a decent boot space of 377 liters. It’s not a lot by today’s standards, but it won’t disappoint you either. It’s also pertinent to mention that despite being modern, Toyota C-HR is smaller than C-segment crossover SUVs like KIA Sportage and Hyundai Tucson.
Engine and Transmission
Toyota C-HR comes in a 1.2L Turbocharged, 1.8L hybrid, or a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine. However, in Pakistan, 1.8L hybrid engines are the most popular due to their utmost utility and efficiency.
Toyota makes robust hybrid cars, and it’s a fact. Toyota Aqua and Toyota Prius are two tested hybrid engines in Pakistan. The C-HR uses a 1.8L 2ZR-FBE engine generating 122hp and 163 Nm of torque. This engine is similar to the Prius and Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2022. The only difference is that it has high compression to achieve higher thermal and engine efficiency.

Toyota C-HR Hybrid uses e-CVT transmission, seamlessly shifting gears. The power delivery is also excellent without any lag due to CVT technology. C-HR has three driving modes:
- EV
- Sports, and
- Normal
The car’s output goes through drastic changes in every mode you select. It may feel highly responsive in sports mode while sluggish in the EV mode.
Comfort and Handling
Unlike other sporty crossover SUVs, Toyota C-HR has a relatively soft suspension that allows for excellent comfort. The overall seat cushioning and interior quality make it even more comfortable.
C-HR hybrid uses McPherson suspension on the front and dual wishbone suspension on the rear. This suspension setup with less ground clearance of the car allows for excellent grip and handling. The sporty and low-profile tyre size of 225/50/R18 also enhances this car’s exceptional road grip and driving pleasure.
Toyota C-HR Fuel Average
Toyota C-HR is a hybrid vehicle, which is why it delivers an excellent fuel average. The car offers a fuel average of around 27-28 km/L within the city. The only drawback here being that hybrid vehicles’ fuel average drops on the highway, which remains a fact in this case too. However, the Toyota C-HR Hybrid still delivers a fuel average of 25 km/L on the highway.
The numbers stated above are beyond impressive for a vehicle of this size and features.
