Rolls-Royce Phantom Review: Price | Specs | Features & More

You would find this epitome of luxury and status only in the garages of royals, showbiz personalities, media Mughals and Arab Sheikhs. The Rolls-Royce Phantom is perhaps the most recognizable full-sized luxury saloon in the world.

An unrivaled piece of automobile design and ingenuity, the Rolls-Royce Phantom gives Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and Bentley Flying Spur a run for their money.

The latest Rolls-Royce Phantom is of the 8th generation, which was first launched in 2017.

Would you like to know more about this most comfortable luxury car on the planet?

Let’s dig in.

Design

There isn’t a sea change of difference between Phantom’s 7th and the present 8th generation. The rear-opening coach doors are still there, along with a long wheelbase and a flowing rear end. Rolls-Royce’s signature long bonnet which houses its big V-12 engine is there. Though there are noticeable differences as well.

There’s a slight difference between the Phantom 2022 and its latest iteration, the Rolls-Royce Phantom 2023. Some of the noticeable design changes are in the car’s iconic Pantheon grille and headlamps. The wheel design has been updated as well.

However, if you are interested in a Phantom which is a lot different from the 7th gen Phantom then look into Phantom Platino.

Rolls-Royce Phantom Platino

Expected to be launched soon, a limited edition, the Platino is for those who like their ultra-luxurious car covered in a special silver-white paint and prefer the interior made of hand-embroidered silk, bamboo fiber-based cloth and a special leather.

Interior & Variants

The inside of arguably the world’s most luxurious saloon is made of materials like wood, supple leather and accents of metal. But sky’s the limit when it comes to customizing Phantom’s and other Rolls-Royce models. For example, you can have a customized artwork in place of standard instrument panel trim, etc.

Phantom comes in two body size options – standard and extended-wheelbase (EWB).

The extended-wheelbase Phantom is 8.6 inches longer than the standard Phantom, which means more legroom for the rear passengers. In addition, they enjoy power-adjustable massage seats, deep-pile carpeted floor mats, access to refrigerator and remote controlled infotainment system, etc.

Engine & Performance

Phantom is a powerful car though not a supercar by any stretch of imagination. Therefore, it is more suited for gentle cruising. A rear-wheel drive vehicle, its 563 hp, twin turbo V-12 engine mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission can help you catapult from 0 – 60mph in almost 5 seconds.

Phantom doesn’t run on the road; it levitates on it. Such is the smoothness of its ride. And what’s more – the beast comes equipped with a pothole-spotting camera which helps the car’s suspension adapt to road conditions in real time.

However, with luxury and power comes immense carbon footprint. This ober luxury saloon is a gas guzzler. Within the city it offers around 5 Km/L and on the highway, around 8.5 Km/L.

Let’s talk a bit more about the safety features in this car.

Safety Features

So it comes with all the expected bells and whistles like lane-departure and forward-collision warnings and the rest. But did you know that this car comes fitted with a laser-light system and night vision capabilities?

In the words of Rolls-Royce founder Henry Royce “Strive for perfection in everything you do.”
