Cultus v Celerio: Are Indian Cars Really Better?

Consumer rights activists and motorheads in Pakistan have often compared Pakistani cars and their equivalents in India. Almost always, cars in India have come on top in terms of their features, specs and price.

Even when you factor in the exchange rate difference, the Indian car is cheaper (or so it seems) than its Pakistani counterpart and what’s more – it offers more in terms of comfort, safety, etc. Rubbing salt into the wound.

Today we will compare the Suzuki Cultus 2021 and the Suzuki Celerio 2021. For our readers’ information, Cultus is called Celerio in India, Thailand, etc.

The Pakistani and Indian Cultus’ will be weighed for their:

  • Interior
  • Exterior
  • Comfort and Convenience
  • Safety and Security
  • Dimensions
  • Engine
  • and more

Make sure to read the entire review to get the complete picture and judge for yourself whether Indian Cultus is actually better than its Pakistani counterpart.

Cultus 2021 Overview

Before getting to the comparison, let’s share some general information about the Suzuki Cultus.

In 2017, Suzuki Pakistan stated that it would replace the existing Cultus with Celerio. It didn’t live up to it and brought the same Cultus into the market though with a whole new shape and interior much similar to the Celerio.

For Pakistanis, it was still a big thing – after all Suzuki had finally made a huge change to the same old and some would say “boring’ Cultus after more than a decade. Some of the other “revolutionary” and needless to say unexpected features offered in the new Cultus were:

  • Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
  • Dual SRS airbags
  • Immobilizer
  • Keyless entry

The new shaped Cultus was initially priced at Rs.1,025,000. Given its new features, the price was considered reasonable at the time.

But today, after just 4 years, the only thing that has gone up about Cultus is not its standard but price, which has jumped from Rs.1,025,000 to Rs.1,904,000.

Enough of the overview for now.

Suzuki Cultus Price in Pakistan and India:

It is pertinent to mention here that after the passing of the Finance (Supplementary) Bill 2021 or “mini budget” the Pakistani Cultus price is expected to increase.

Cultus New Model: Final Word

No doubt, Suzuki Celerio is way better than the Cultus when it comes to features, and price.

We wish we had the Suzuki Celerio in Pakistan instead of the Cultus, so that we could enjoy driving a superior hatchback.

Suzuki Pakistan should take into account the features of Celerio that outweigh Cultus and plan to offer them in the upcoming Cultus 2022.

One response to “Cultus v Celerio: Are Indian Cars Really Better?”

  1. I think localization is the big factor between Pakistan and India Car makers. Indian localization process is much faster and easy as they have their own steel mill and batter CNC local made machines.Secondly they have their own R&D and have experienced engineers that is why cost of cars is lower than pakistan.
