Changan is launching two of its newest additions to the already crowded SUV market in Pakistan – Oshan CS35 Plus and X5. Changan X5 is bigger than the CS35, yet smaller than the X7. It might prove an excellent addition to Pakistan’s compact crossover SUV market.

Design
As the name suggests, Oshan X5 is a toned down version of Oshan X7. And for that reason, it shares a similar sleek and dynamic design with X7. The car is yet to be seen on the roads. However, it has the most futuristic design in its class, making it a head-turner for many.

Looking at its dimensions, it’s comparable to Sportage, Tucson and MG HS. However, it’s much more futuristic and appealing than the other C-segment compact crossover SUVs in Pakistan.
On the front, X5 comes with sleek headlights and a huge hexagonal grille. The front grille is magnificent with a waterfall design. Apparently, the headlight only seems to have a single LED bar which enhances the modern dynamics of this car. Huge plastic cutouts in the front, piano black element in the front bumper, and plastic claddings covering all sides of the body enhance the SUV element of the car.
The side profile of the car has a dual waist design for a refined and sporty look. Oshan X5 comes with 18-inch Black finish alloy wheels with a low profile 225/50/R18 tyres. The rear of the car has a split-tail design. The LED headlamps look imposing, just like the front sleek headlamps. Oshan X5 comes with dual exhaust and a factory-fitted spoiler at the top.
Interior
Like the exterior, the interior resembles Oshan X7. Oshan X5 has a D-shaped steering wheel and a wide dashboard with piano black material all over it. The door panels and AC vents also share the same black polished material in them. The dashboard looks super clean due to a very few switches located below the infotainment display.
The center console is thick and wide, separating the front driver and the passenger seats. The gear is located in the console. Both front and rear seats have ample legroom and headroom.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, Oshan X5 is equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine that produces 180hp and 300 Nm of torque. This engine is an award winning Blue Whale engine equipped with blue core technology. Like Oshan X7, X5 is also Euro 6 compliant making it safer for the environment.
This engine is coupled with a 7-speed DCT transmission that allows for excellent acceleration with minimum lag when shifting gears. The actual performance is yet to be determined once the car is on the road.
Suspension and Handling
Changan X5 has a sporty profile and large wheels which means the suspension might be stiff. At the same time, larger wheels and sporty dynamics allows for greater handling of the car.
However, we can only tell once the car is officially launched in Pakistan.
Features
A quick glance at the displayed unit and the car comes equipped with a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, rear camera and panoramic sunroof. More details are yet to be revealed by Changan.
Changan Oshan X5 Price in Pakistan and Booking Information
Expected price of Changan X5 is around Rs.5 – Rs.5.5 million. Prices are changing here on a regular basis and therefore it is hard to accurately say what its actual price will be in Pakistan. Let’s hope Changan keeps this crossover SUV value for money, as it has done previously with its Alsvin and Oshan X7.
Since this car is not launched in Pakistan yet, therefore its booking hasn’t opened. However, we expect this car to launch by the end of the year.
