Here, you will learn all there is to know about the three latest S24 models, including their specs and features, and most importantly, their price differences. So without further ado, let’s begin this comparison.
Samsung Galaxy S24 vs S24 Plus vs S24 Ultra: Price Difference
Let’s begin with the money matters first.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is open for pre-orders in the US and other countries, with a release date set for January 31. Here’s a breakdown of the prices:
- Samsung Galaxy S24: Starts at $799 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s also a 256GB model.
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus: Starts at $999, featuring 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. A 512GB option is available.
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: The priciest model, starting at $1,299 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Options for 512GB and 1TB storage are available at higher prices.
Interestingly, Samsung has kept the launch prices the same for the S24 and S24 Plus. If you remember, the S23 and S24 Plus were also launched at the same price. However, the S24 Ultra has been released with a slightly higher price tag. The S23 Ultra was launched at $1,199, while the S24 Ultra will be sold for $1,299. This means that the PTA taxes for the latest phones will be similar to the PTA taxes for the three S23 phones due to the similarities in price.

As expected, there are significant differences between the three; however, there are also notable similarities. For example, the base and Plus models share the same processor and the same MP front camera. All three models come with a flat AMOLED display. Additionally, the battery size difference between the Plus and Ultra models is insignificant. However, where the premium model – S24 Ultra – clearly wins over the other two models is in its rear cameras.
Let’s dig a little deeper into cameras.
Cameras
The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus share the same camera setup, featuring a triple-lens rear array with a 50MP main lens, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens. Both models also have a 12MP front camera.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts a more impressive camera system. Its quad-lens rear array includes a 200MP main lens, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 10MP secondary telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The front camera is another 12MP shooter.
The S24 Ultra’s standout feature is the “Quad-Tele System,” enabling optical-quality zoom at 2x, 3x, 5x, and 10x magnification. It also introduces 100x enhanced digital zoom and Samsung’s Space Zoom in the “Nightography” feature. The camera improvements include larger pixels, wide OIS, and Super HDR for better low-light performance and realistic previews. There’s enhanced support for third-party social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat.
Which S24 Is More Artificially Intelligent (AI)?
High-end phones no longer rely solely on attractive designs, ultra-big displays, camera specs, and super-fast processors. Now, the focus has shifted to Artificial Intelligence or AI. We’ve witnessed this trend with Apple and other premium mobile phone manufacturers, where the main selling point is the phone’s artificial intelligence capabilities.
So, first, is the latest S24 artificially intelligent? And if so, which of the three models is the most artificially intelligent? Let’s find out.
All three Galaxy S24 phones share the same AI features, dispelling rumors of exclusivity to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung has integrated various AI tools to enhance user experience and empower users through artificial intelligence.
The AI features focus on assistance and helping users perform tasks they might struggle with independently. Browsing Assist summarizes online content, while Chat Assist, integrated into the keyboard, allows users to tweak and rewrite content in six different styles. It also includes a translation tool. The Interpreter tool in the phone app offers real-time text translations for 13 languages and 17 dialects.
Samsung’s Notes app includes Transcribe Assist for translating, transcribing, and summarizing work, along with neatening the handwriting of S Pen users. Circle to Search with Google lets users circle on-screen content to produce relevant Google search results, supporting the S Pen on the S24 Ultra.
Galaxy AI editing tools simplify photo edits. Edit suggestions analyze your shots, learning from your editing activity to suggest improvements. Generative Edit fills in blank spaces using generative AI. Instant Slow-mo transforms videos into slow-motion clips without requiring a dedicated slow-motion camera mode. The AI features are designed to enhance and simplify various aspects of the user experience on the Galaxy S24 series.
Battery & Charging
The Samsung Galaxy S24 has the smallest battery among the three models, packing a 4,000 mAh power pack. However, this size is still substantial, considering its smaller, lower-resolution screen likely requires less power.
For those seeking larger battery capacities, the Galaxy S24 Plus boasts a 4,900 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra leads with a 5,000 mAh battery. The efficiency improvements in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip may enhance the running time for all three devices, building on the positive reputation of the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s battery life.
Actual battery performance remains uncertain until tested, as real-world results can sometimes differ from numerical specifications. Charging-wise, the Galaxy S24 maintains the same 25W charging speeds as the previous year, allowing for a 50% charge in 30 minutes. The Galaxy S24 Plus, however, benefits from a welcome boost, featuring the same 45W charging speeds as the Galaxy S24 Ultra, achieving a 65% charge in half an hour.
All three phones support Qi wireless charging at speeds of up to 15W. While Samsung hasn’t disclosed specific details on recharge speed, it’s expected to be slower than the wired charging option.
Samsung Galaxy S24 vs S24 Plus vs S24 Ultra: Top Performer?
In North America, the standard Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is set to come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip, specifically optimized for Galaxy devices. This custom chip is expected to provide enhanced performance, particularly in AI processing, offering a notable advantage for AI-centric tasks.
While the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has shown impressive capabilities, thorough benchmarking tests are required to accurately assess the performance of all three phones. Details about the Exynos 2400 remain undisclosed.
Samsung has assured that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will deliver a more powerful CPU, GPU, and NPU, ensuring efficient performance. This chip will power the AI features on the phones and provide unparalleled gaming performance, promising smoother gameplay, improved lighting, and enhanced ray tracing.
Design & Display
All three Galaxy S24 models feature flat AMOLED displays with shared attributes, including a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 2,600-nit peak brightness, and slimmer bezels for slightly larger displays without increasing phone size.
The standard Samsung Galaxy S24 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ display, measuring 5.79 x 2.78 x 0.30 inches. The Galaxy S24 Plus has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display, measuring 6.24 x 3.00 x 0.30 inches. Both phones weigh 168g and 197g, respectively.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra offers a 6.8-inch QHD+ display, measuring 6.40 x 3.11 x 0.34 inches, featuring a titanium frame for improved durability without increasing weight. It weighs the same as the Galaxy S23 Ultra at 232g, making it the heaviest of the S24 lineup. The Ultra includes a Gorilla Armor screen, 4x more scratch-resistant than Gorilla Glass Victus 2, reducing screen glare. The S24 and S24 Plus stick with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and all three phones have back panels made from Victus 2 glass.
The Ultra introduces a larger vapor cooling chamber for improved performance, ensuring the titanium frame doesn’t negatively impact heat management. The Ultra model also includes the S Pen stylus, exclusive to the Ultra and not compatible with the S24 or S24 Plus.
So Which S24 Should You Buy?
Samsung has introduced significant upgrades to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus, making the Plus model especially appealing at its $999 price. It has gained notable enhancements that enhance its desirability.
However, the Galaxy S24 Ultra remains the flagship king with its optimized Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset, titanium frame, and powerful quad-lens camera. It does come at a higher cost compared to its counterparts.
If you’re aiming for the absolute best from Samsung and are willing to invest, the Ultra is the choice. Yet, for those seeking impressive features at a more budget-friendly price, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus still offer plenty of compelling options.
