iPhone Pocket: Apple’s $150 “Knitted Pouch” – Genius or Just a Thief Magnet?

iPhone Pocket: Apple’s $150 “Knitted Pouch” – Genius or Just a Thief Magnet?

When I first saw Apple’s new iPhone Pocket, my reaction was a mix of awe, confusion, and a little bit of “wait, they actually want us to pay $150 for a knitted pouch?” Yes, you read that right. A knitted pouch. Apple + ISSEY MIYAKE collaborated to create this… unique accessory for your iPhone. And well, it’s soft, stretchy, colorful, and apparently a “beautiful way to wear your iPhone.” I don’t know who would want to do that, at least in Pakistan! What’s even shocking is its price tag. So, let’s see the iPhone Pocket price in Pakistan and analyze if it makes sense!

Features That Sound Fancy, But Let’s Break Them Down

  • 3D-knitted construction: Sounds high-tech, but it’s basically one continuous piece of stretchy cloth that can fit any iPhone (and maybe some other small items).
  • Wear it anywhere: Handheld, tied to bags, or strapped on your body like a fancy sling.
  • Peek-a-boo design: Stretch it and you can see your iPhone screen without removing it. Fancy, but also… a little risky.
  • Colors galore: Short strap: lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, black. Long strap: sapphire, cinnamon, black. Enough choices to match your mood or your overpriced latte.

iPhone Pocket Price in Pakistan

The iPhone Pocket has been introduced at a price tag that raises eyebrows as the cost of this knitted pouch can go up to Rs. 65,000. Check out the prices of  both variants:

  • Short strap: $149.95 (~PKR 42,000)
  • Long strap: $229.95 (~PKR 65,000)

So basically, you can carry a pouch worth almost as much as a mid-range iPhone like an iPhone XS, the phone that still makes sense for a lot of people. If that doesn’t scream “attention, thieves,” I don’t know what does.

If price is your concern, don’t worry! Soon, the Pakistani markets might have these knitted pouches that will not be the same as Apple’s Pocket but let’s assume, 99.9% the same? It’s not an ethical and legal thing to do but we all know that it happens.

Is It Suitable in Pakistan? (Spoiler: Hilarious Thoughts Ahead)

Imagine walking into Anarkali (or any popular and crowded bazaar in your city) with this pouch dangling from your shoulder. You’re basically sending a neon sign: “Yes, I’m carrying a 4-5 lakh iPhone in a Rs. 65,000 pouch. Please steal it.”

  • Street shopping risk: A thief could casually snip the strap with scissors.
  • Everyday practicality: Rain? The phone’s soaked. Crowded buses? Goodbye iPhone.
  • Flex factor: Sure, your friends might admire your taste (at least in front of you).

In short, it’s fancy… but Pakistani streets aren’t exactly the runway Apple seems to have in mind.

Verdict: Fun, But Probably Not Smart

The iPhone Pocket is fun, colorful, and innovative, but in Pakistan, it feels more like a luxury toy than a practical accessory. Unless your plan is to attend high-end fashion shows or live in a bubble of air-conditioned malls, maybe just stick to a sturdy case… and leave the knitted pouch fantasy to Instagram influencers.
