There’s a reason why the Big Three get so much flack from the common people. It is they who drag feet when it comes to introducing the latest comfort and safety features in their vehicles, yet never shy away from raising their prices many times a year.
Not to specifically pick on one of the Big Three but Suzuki till recently wasn’t even installing seat belts in one of its hottest-selling models. To continue the legacy, there are some Suzuki models which still come without something as basic as an air conditioner. But has Suzuki had a change of heart with its “new” Bolan which apparently comes fitted with AC?
Images have circulated in the media showing an AC fitted Bolan. However, it was later discovered that it was not a factory-fitted AC. This is not to suggest that there will never be an AC-fitted Bolan.
Redux of AC Suzuki Bolan
Some of us would still remember that the Bolan once came with factory-fitted AC. However, it was too much of a burden on its frail 800cc engine due to which drivers weren’t satisfied with its performance. Getting the hint, Suzuki stopped it.
Pak Suzuki is now all-set to re-introduce the same Bolan – the one with factory-fitted AC. Would the people feel any different about it this time around? Would it not underperform and overheat anymore? Let’s wait and see.
Expected features
Unfortunately, there are no significant safety features expected in the upcoming Bolan. It would have the same manual window controls, drum brakes, leaf spring suspension, and no airbags. According to Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (AIDEP 2021-26), the sale of any vehicle that’s noncompliant with WP 29 requirements would be prohibited from June 2022. This means this could be the last generation of Bolan VXL unless they make space in the dashboard to fit in airbags.
Suzuki Bolan 2022 price in Pakistan
The new Bolan is expected to be Rs.87,000 more than the old Bolan. Suzuki Bolan 2022 with factory-fitted AC is expected to be Rs.1,265,000, while at present Bolan VX Euro II is priced at Rs.1,178,000.
It’s delivery time could be two months.
Would it be worth it?
If it comes fitted with the same 800cc engine, it would face the same problems it has faced before. And if it comes unfitted with airbags, its sale would be stopped after June 30, 2022. So, keeping these things in mind, the new Bolan would not be worth your money.
If you are looking for a better alternative, do take a look at the Suzuki Every 2022 in Pakistan. For a few thousand more, you can get this Japan made mini-van. Needless to say, Every is fitted with way more safety features than Bolan will ever be. And the price difference isn’t much. You can find yourself Suzuki Every for around Rs.1.3-1.6 million.
