Vivo Y22 2022 Design

Vivo hardly disappoints its customers in terms of mobile phone design. The design of Vivo Y22 is not only improved from its predecessor Y21 but is more premium in comparison. With flat sides and box patterns on the back (Starlit Blue color), it is going to impress many. The camera module is larger, just like the latest trend in the market.

It is a bit thicker (8.4mm) but it is still better than many other phones with over 8.5mm thickness. In the same way, it weighs (190 g) around 8 grams more than its predecessor. The good news is, there is IP5X (dust), and IPX4 (water) resistance available in it this time. We can expect only plastic frames and back in this price category so no complaining in this regard.

Vivo Y22 Display

The display of the Vivo Y22 (6.55”) is a bit larger but unnoticeable compared to its predecessor Y21’s display (6.51”). The IPS LCD is still there with just HD+ resolution which is confusing at this price point. Some devices like Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, Redmi Note 11, Infinix Note 12, etc. come with Full HD+ AMOLED displays. Also, the refresh rate is on the lower side (60 Hz only) which shows this device is not meant for medium to high gamers.

Coming to the camera department of Vivo Y22, it is upgraded compared to its predecessor. Now, it comes with a 50 MP primary camera. The 2nd 2 MP macro camera is the same that you can find in its predecessor. Video recording of up to 1080p@30fps and a selfie camera of 8 MP are the other highlights of its camera department. Just like the camera department, the performance of Vivo Y22 is elevated compared to Vivo Y21. Its software is upgraded as the new device has Android 12 & Funtouch 12 OS. It has got a far better chipset (MediaTek Helio G85) compared to Y21’s chipset (Mediatek Helio P35).

Although the chipset is upgraded, it is still behind what many competitors are providing at this price point. A 4GB RAM with 64GB storage is also the downside of this Vivo phone as people need at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage at this price which many other smartphone brands are providing.

The features of Vivo Y22 2022 are almost the same as were of its predecessor. Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS are the features. The option of stereo speakers is still missing which is available in many other smartphones at this price point.

The hardware-based gyro sensor is replaced with a virtual gyroscope now. Fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, proximity, & compass sensors are available.
