Though two successive governments have unveiled major roadmaps for the local auto industry – the Automotive Development Policy 2016-2021 and AIDEP 2021-26, the subsequent policy revisions have handicapped the arrival and manufacturing of EVs in the country. As a result, hybrid vehicles have further posted positive sales numbers; a rising petrol price has also helped.
Toyota Prius and Honda Vezel: The first hybrid wave
Prius a hatchback and Vezel a subcompact crossover SUV were introduced in the local market as CBUs at the time when motorists were looking for fuel efficient vehicles. Equipped with a traditional combustion engine and an electric battery pack, these two were offering unbelievable mileage per litre of gasoline.

The second-best hybrid car in Pakistan is Toyota Aqua. It also saves your petrol cost with its EFI Hybrid Synergy Technology. The Aqua is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.5-liter VVT-I engine and CVT automatic transmission that produce a max output of 72 horsepower.
Toyota Aqua falls in the category of a 5-door hatchback with a top speed of up to 180 km/h.
