We have seen so many crossover SUVs in the past few years that it has overshadowed the legacy of true off-road vehicles. Many have forgotten the taste of raw power and extreme durability – factors not found in SUVs with sensitive transmissions and technology.
This blog is for those of you who crave extreme vehicles and appreciate what an actual off-road vehicle means. Here are the top 5 4×4 cars in Pakistan.
1. Hilux Revo
Hilux Revo is the essence of raw power fueled by a 2755cc diesel engine. Revo produces a max. 150hp across all variants. While the torque for manual variants is limited to 420 Nm. Revo G A/T and Revo Roco can produce 500 Nm at 1600 rpm. This raw power is transferred to a 4-wheel drive system by a 6-speed manual or sequential automatic transmission.
Any off-road option like diff lock, drive mode selector, Hydraulic power steering with variable flow control, Hill Assist controls, traction control, trailer sway control (TSC), limited-slip differential, and rigid chassis makes it an absolute beast for offroading.
Revo is known for its extreme durability and efficiency on any terrain. High ground clearance and a perfectly balanced suspension make it glide over any off-road surface. This off-road vehicle is open for any modification you want to throw at it. Being a Toyota, it’s easier to source spare parts.
2. Mitsubishi Pajero
Long before Land Cruisers and Vigos, Mitsubishi Pajero was the veteran in the off-road SUV category in Pakistan. Pajaro’s first generation was introduced in 1981 and remained in the market for a decade. In 1991, the 2nd generation of Pajero was introduced, which remained till 2000. This generation of Prado is the most common you see here in Pakistan.
Despite being more than 2 decades old, you can still compare this off-roader with many latest 4*4 vehicles. Some models may even have digital climate control and a sunroof with retractable side mirrors, power windows, height adjusted seats. Getting back to where it all started, this car has all the off-road features, including a drive mode selector, limited-slip differential, differential lock, and more.
The off-road SUV comes with a range of petrol, diesel, and turbocharged engines ranging from 2000cc inline-four to 3.5L V6 engines. Toyota Land Cruiser ZX is a sport utility vehicle that is often taken as a measure of luxury in Pakistan. In addition to offering extreme luxury, it is tough enough to help you explore any part of the country. These specific SUVs have been in production since the 1950s.
Land Cruiser ZX or LC 200 shares a common background with the legendary 80-series Land Cruiser. However, much has changed since then, but it still offers extreme offroad performance. It has passed the test of time long before any of its competitors.
Land Cruiser ZX has a 4.6L V8 petrol engine generating 314hp and 460 Nm of torque. This high compression engine comes with 8-speed automatic transmission. Land Cruiser ZX is an extremely capable sport utility vehicle due to the features and power it has.

Though Toyota Vigo doesn’t quite provide the luxury of Toyota Revo, it still offers many similar offroad capabilities on a smaller budget. What’s even better is this vehicle has extreme off-road features like drive mode selector, limited slip differential, etc. It lacks some frills that are present in the Revo. In Pakistan, Toyota Hilus Vigo Champ was locally produced a few years back, which was then replaced by Hilux Revo.
Toyota Hilux was also imported from Thailand and Malaysia, which shared some differences in engine, power, and comfort features. The most striking changes were that Malaysian models produce more output from similar engine sizes, and the Thai models don’t have an inbuilt heater in the air conditioning system.
