In the latest development, Suzuki Pakistan has suspended the bookings for the Suzuki Wagon R. Once a quite popular hatchback in Pakistan, the journey of the Wagon R has finally come to an end. This suspension is effective from 11 March 2025. So, if you were thinking of buying a WagonR on booking, you might have to go for the used Suzuki WagonR now.
Wondering why the company has closed the bookings of WagonR permanently? The official reason is yet to be disclosed, but if you ask me, there can be multiple reasons.
To begin with, WagonR sales have seen a significant decline in recent years compared to their peak following the car’s introduction in Pakistan in 2014. At its highest, nearly 3,500 units were sold in a single month (October 2017), but since July 2024, monthly sales have struggled to surpass the 300-unit mark. Here’s a look at the yearly sales trend of the Suzuki WagonR:

Another reason behind this suspension could be the introduction of its newer generation in Pakistan. Remember that the previous generation of Suzuki Swift was discontinued in 2021, and the newer generation was introduced in 2022? The same can happen with the Wagon R. I spoke to a dealership, and they said that the company might introduce a newer generation next year, but there is no confirmation at the moment.
Variants | price |
Wagon R VXR | Rs. 3,214,000 |
Wagon R VXL | Rs. 3,412,000 |
Wagon R AGS | Rs. 3,741,000 |
Suddenly, one can think about who will fill the gap in this price range. Well! Suzuki dominates the hatchback category in Pakistan. So, the people who want to buy the upper variant of the Suzuki Wagon R (VXL AGS) will now have the base variant of the Suzuki Cultus in this price, and people who want to buy the base variant of the Wagon R might go for the Alto VXL-AGS Upgraded Version or the Every VXR, depending on their requirements.
It seems the overall sales of the company might not be affected by this suspension. Now, the wait begins for the next-generation WagonR.
