Heavy Fines For No Safety Rods
Wondering if you can ride a bike during Basant days in Punjab? The answer is yes, you can. But wait! That’s not just the answer. Know that you are only allowed on roads if you have installed a safety wire on your bike. Reason? It will prevent any mishap caused by the strings.
Furthermore, the Basant Safety Plan includes the installation of safety rods free of cost on one million bikes. The officials also announced that motorcyclists will experience heavy fines if they do not have safety rods installed from 1st Feb, 2026.
Free Transportation During Basant
The Punjab Government has also finalized the free transportation plan for Basant 2026. The Government has brought the ride companies on board for this purpose. The metro buses, the orange line train, and other transport means will be operating free of cost.
But those who want to experience and witness Basant can also get a ride-hailing trip within Lahore. Furthermore, it includes:
- 60,000 free cab rides
- 6,000 rickshaws
Free transport will be available across 24 routes in Lahore with the following:
- 228 buses on feeder routes
- 64 buses for the Metrobus service
- 54 buses from government colleges
- 73 buses from universities
The transportation plan will accommodate the following:
- Around 250,000 passengers on the Orange Line (per day)
- Around 87,000 passengers on the Gajju Mata-to-Shahdara Metrobus corridor (per day)
- Around 127,000 passengers through feeder routes (per day)
- Around 516,000 passengers on the bus (per day)
The following are the route-wise allocations:
- Rana Town to Railway Station
- RA Bazar to Chungi
- Bhatti Chowk to RA Bazar
- Kahna Nau to RA Bazar
- Jinnah Bus Terminal to BRB
