Since it is “Pakistan’s 1st” locally assembled hybrid SUV, it has no other locally assembled hybrid SUV competitor. However, there are hybrid SUVs in Pakistan which are imported, namely Toyota Corolla Cross which is available in Pakistan in three variants (Low Grade, Smart Mid Grade and Premium High Grade) and MG HS PHEV. This blog is on the former’s competition with the latest entrant in the world of hybrid SUVs.
So, let’s dig in and see whether Haval H6 HEV is any good. First up, its price.
Price Comparison
Here is the price comparison of these two competitors.
Variant | Price (PKR) |
Haval H6 1.5T HEV | 9,749,000 |
Toyota Corolla Cross Low Grade | 1.22 Crore |
As mentioned earlier, Corolla Cross is a CBU vehicle, while Haval H6 HEV is locally assembled. However, due to very low localisation of its parts, it is as prone to a fluctuating exchange rate as its imported competitor.
Now lets see if the pricier SUV offers more in terms of exterior, interior, comfort and safety features.
Exterior: Haval H6 Hybrid Vs Toyota Corolla Cross
As you will see, there isn’t a sea change of a difference between the two when it comes to exterior features. However, the most noticeable difference between the two is the lack of sunroof in the more expensive imported SUV – Toyota Corolla Cross.

Specifications: Haval H6 Hybrid Vs Toyota Corolla Cross
Haval H6 Hybrid is a bigger SUV with bigger tyres and wheelbase, which means it would be more comfortable to ride on highways as compared to Toyota Corolla Cross. However, a bigger wheelbase also means difficult turning on corners, which would be a problem when driving within the city.

Conclusion
There really is no comparison between the two. Haval H6 HEV despite being cheaper offers way more than what Rs.1.22 crore Toyota Corolla Cross has to offer. Perhaps Cross’s other two variants would be a match for the newly launched Haval but they are also way more expensive – Rs.1.31 crore and Rs.1.34 crore. Hence, for price parity, we compared the least expensive of the three with Haval H6 HEV.
However, Toyota IMC plans to launch the locally assembled Toyota Corolla Cross in 2023 or 2024. It is expected to come with a price tag of Rs.1 crore. If and when this happens, it could give a tough competition to Haval but for the next year or two, Haval has the entire field to itself.
