The best way to answer this question is by comparing the new Civic with its predecessor and see where the differences are. Let’s find out together by comparing the 10th and 11 generations of Honda Civic. Let’s have a quick overview of both of these generations.
Overview
Honda Civic is one of Pakistan’s favorite sedans. Civic X remained in production for almost six years. It replaced a boring, not so well received, 9th gen Civic aka Civic Rebirth in Pakistan. This was a huge jump in the design and power of the car.
Now 11 gen Civic is overtaking the Civic X. Design language of Civic X is more sharp and agile than the new generation Civic. It seems like Honda is targeting a somewhat different class of people, this time with a more mature and clean look.
Let’s find out a little more about these two generations of Civic.
Exterior
One of the major reasons why Civic 10th generation sold like a hot cake was its design. Something we don’t see happening with the new Civic. Civic X exudes sportiness with huge curves and character lines emerging from the bonnet, casting all along the body.
The Civic 11th generation has toned down its aggressive design in terms of looks. Civic 2022 looks more mature, minimalist, and clean. The current generation of Civic has a striking resemblance with the bigger sibling of the Honda family, the Honda Accord.
Remove the badging, and you will face a hard time telling which is which. It’s even bigger and wider than its main competitors – Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra.
To put things in perspective, here’s a specs wise comparison of the two:

Let’s compare the specification of the new Civic 2022 with the older Civic.

Civic X vs Civic 11th gen interior
Civic X has an extremely sporty interior. The multi-layered dashboard complements the overall aesthetics of this car. The grooves transcend to the door panels and the bucket seats. The plastic in the interior of the car feels premium. The car has wider and longer dimensions allowing it to house more cabin space than other cars. The seats are lowered, offering some of the lowest ride heights in locally manufactured sedans.
Civic 11th generation uses a single-layered, minimalist and practical dashboard design. The theme continues across the exterior and interior of the car. The Civic 11th generation interior is aesthetically pleasing yet simple.
The honeycomb design of the air cons is super functional. There is plenty of room inside the new Civic 11th generation.
Apart from the rear air vents, a charging dock is available for the rear passengers. The latest generation Civic is even more spacious on the inside.
Comfort and Handling
Civic has been known for its excellent and responsive handling. Apart from the marvelous handling of this car, there is a pride attached to the 10th gen Civic for superior control and road grip. That probably has to do with Civic X’s sublime looks making it look lower. Though the refined suspension tuning increases handling, it also hits potholes harder. That’s due to stiffer suspension settings.
We can’t say much about Civic 2022 comfort and handling since it’s new and other than Honda officials, no one has test-driven it on local roads. However, what’s certain is that the new Civic comes with larger 16-inch wheels (lower two variants). While the RS Turbo has big 17 inch wheels. This means the handling will be improved.
Engine and Transmission
Civic 10th gen had three engine variations, two 1.8L engines and a 1.5L turbo charged engine. The 1.8L naturally aspirated engine produces 138 hp and 169 Nm, while the 1.5L turbo variant produces 170 hp and 220 Nm of torque.
All were coupled with a CVT transmission for a subtle transmission response. Turbo charged variants have paddle shifters, which makes sense because it’s more aggressive than the other 1.8L engines. Civic 1.5 RS Turbo outmatch 2000cc sedans like Hyundai Elantra.
Civic 11th gen has skipped the good old 1.8L naturally aspirated engine in favor of the 1.5L turbo charged engine. This engine is the same across all three variants of Civic. This high compression, turbo charged engine produces 176 hp and 220 Nm of torque for the top variant- Civic RS 1.5L Turbo LL-CVT. Despite using the same 1.5L, turbo charged engines, the other two variants produce less output at 127 hp and 180 Nm of torque.
This Civic is also coupled with CVT transmission for seamless gear shifting. The last generation of Turbo Civic outpaced cars with even 30% more displacement. This year Honda engineers have pumped the same displacement with some extra hp and Nm due to fine-tuning of these engines. This means it won’t stop leading the scoreboards.

What do we think of the new Civic?
After six years of being a massive hit, Honda has now discontinued the Civic X. The demand and popularity of this car is still skyrocketing. This probably has to do with the price of the 11th generation Honda Civic in Pakistan. If you are wondering whether the new Civic is worth the upgrade or not, the answer is NO.
Civic X is still a complete package with all the features you would ever expect from a sedan. Not to mention the price difference between these cars which makes Civic X an even more attractive option.
Let us know which one would you choose? Civic X or Civic XI.
Those having civic X turbo variant may not upgrade to 11th generation becoz top variants of both models have same power and have got almost same features less adaptive cruise and z sensing features
Not as exciting as the the old civic design
