The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started a new campaign where people will receive calls about income tax return filing. These calls are not for penalties or warnings, they’re mainly to guide taxpayers and clear confusion about the process.
The calls will only come from a fixed range of numbers: 021-38901090 to 021-38901099. So if you get a call from one of these, it’s part of the campaign. Anything outside this list should be ignored because scam calls are unfortunately very common.
021-38901090 | 021-38901095 |
021-38901091 | 021-38901096 |
021-38901092 | 021-38901097 |
021-38901093 | 021-38901098 |
021-38901094 | 021-38901099 |
Now, why is FBR doing this? Every year, thousands of people either miss the deadline or don’t know how to file properly. Some also avoid filing because they think it doesn’t matter unless they run a business. The truth is, being a filer makes a big difference. It saves you from extra taxes on bank transactions, vehicle registration, and property deals. Non-filers end up paying much more on simple things that could have been avoided.
This campaign is also about encouraging more people to get on the Active Taxpayers List (ATL). Pakistan has a very low tax base compared to its population, and FBR has been trying different ways to expand it. A direct phone call is a straightforward way to reach people instead of relying only on ads or notices.
If you’re unsure about your status, you can check it in a few seconds on FBR’s website. Enter your CNIC in the ATL section, and it will tell you if your name is there. If not, it’s worth taking the time to file before the deadline.
For questions or help, you don’t need to wait for a call. You can always reach out to the official helpline at 051-111-772-772. The staff there usually guides people step by step on how to use the portal and fix small errors.
In short, if you get a call from the official numbers, pick up. It might save you time, money, and trouble later.
