It is now mandatory to have M-Tag to drive on two motorways. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter these highways.
Motorists using Motorway (M-2 Lahore-Islamabad) are now required to buy M-Tags for their vehicles. This has been in effect since December 7, 2021.
There will be no exceptions – those without M-Tag will not be allowed on M-2. So, if you travel between Lahore-Islamabad frequently or intend to do it anytime soon, make sure you get the M-Tag on your car.
Later, this requirement was made mandatory for motorists on M-9 (Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway) as well.
How and where to get the M-Tag?
It’s very simple. All is you need is:
- CNIC
- Vaccination proof
- Vehicle which requires M-Tag needs to be physically present
The following are not required anymore:
- Vehicle registration book or card
- Valid driving license
M-Tag Cost
The tag will cost you Rs.200.
How to Recharge M-Tag?
First, there is no requirement to maintain a minimum balance on your M-Tag.
Second, the tag will be installed by the Motorway staff. You don’t need to do it yourself. In any case, M-Tag is installed on top of the windshield, in the right corner. It should be inside the vehicle and not outside.
