With the Apple Peek Performance Event now over, rumors have been put to rest. Now we know for sure that iPhone SE 2022 or iPhone SE 3 will be launched along with a variety of Apple’s much-awaited products. However, since the headliner was this budget iPhone, therefore this blog will focus on it and how different it is from its predecessor, iPhone 2020 or iPhone SE 2.
Before, we give you a detailed description and comparison of the upcoming budget iPhone, lets give you a quick overview:
iPhone SE 3: A Quick Look
Here’s what you really need to know about it:
- It looks very much like iPhone SE 2020
- Price: $429 (USD)
- Colors: Red, Black, White
- Screen size: 4.7 inch
- 5G A15 chipset
- Availability: Pre orders starts on Mar 11, 2022 Availability in stores from Mar 18, 2022
Now that you know the essentials of this upcoming phone, you need to know how different it is from its predecessor, because there are some differences which are worth noting.
iPhone SE 3 vs iPhone SE 2: Price
Here’s how the two stack up price-wise:
|RAM||iPhone 2022||iPhone 2020|
Difference: As can be seen, there’s a price difference of $30 between the old and the new iPhone SE phones.
iPhone SE 3 Price in Pakistan
In Pakistan, the 64GB iPhone SE 3 can cost around Rs.120,000 – Rs.140,000. The 128GB can cost between Rs.130,000 – Rs.150,000. The 256GB can cost as much as Rs.160,000 – Rs.180,000. This is likely to be the price range of PTA approved phones.
If you are interested in finding out the PTA fee and charges on phones which aren’t PTA approved, here they are:
iPhone SE 3 vs iPhone SE 2: Display
When it comes to display, it’s really hard to tell the difference between the two. For example, the following are common in the two:
- 4.7 inch LCD IPS screens
- 60 Hz refresh rate
- 326 pixel density
- 750✖1334 resolutions
- 625 nits max brightness
So, there is no difference between the two, which is not good news for iPhone budget phone fans as there is no update. The iPhone SE 3 resolutions are the same as the iPhone SE 2 resolutions – 750✖1334 pixels.
Difference: The iPhone SE 3 display size is the same as the iPhone SE 2 display size. There is no difference between the two.
iPhone SE 3 vs iPhone SE 2: Specs & Performance
If you are beginning to think that the new iPhone SE 3 isn’t as “new” as you thought, think again. It is much faster than the iPhone SE 2.
iPhone SE 3 will come equipped with A15 Bionic processor. How fast would iPhone SE 2022 be? As fast as the iPhone 13. Yes, the iPhone 13 uses the same chip. On the other hand, iPhone SE 2 has A13 Bionic chip, the chip which is used in iPhone 11.
Some of the other iPhone SE 3 specs are:
- OS: iOS 15.3
- CPU: Hexa-core
- GPU: Apple GPU
In short, in iPhone SE 3 you’ll get the performance of iPhone 13. If you have never used the iPhone 11 or 13, let’s just say that the new budget iPhone will be much faster than the iPhone 2020.
What else is so special about the iPhone 2022?
- 16 core Neural Engine – Live text reading within the camera app
- Siri and dictation
- 5G – Though this would be of no use for Pakistani users (for now)
So. Yes. The iPhone SE 2022 is better than the iPhone 2020.
Difference: iPhone SE 3 is much faster than the iPhone SE 2.
iPhone SE 3 vs iPhone SE 2: Battery
Though Apple has claimed a better battery life for this phone, it hasn’t disclosed much information about the iPhone 2022 battery. However, it is not likely to be any larger than its predecessor’s – 1821 mAh lithium-ion battery. If it is true, then this would disappoint Apple fans. Battery life was one of the biggest weaknesses of iPhone 2020.
The company has also claimed that with a 20W adapter (you’ll have to buy it yourself just like when iPhone SE 2 was launched) the new phone’s battery will get 50 percent of a charge in 30 minutes.
Difference: Apple has not disclosed information on the new iPhone SE 3 battery. However, no significant difference is expected between the old and new phones.
iPhone SE 3 vs iPhone SE 2: Camera
The iPhone SE 3 will have a single 12 MP camera and 7MP front or selfie camera.
On the face of it, the iPhone SE 3 camera is the same camera which was offered in the iPhone 2020. Both camera systems can shoot videos at 4K and 60fps.
However, photography enthusiasts mustn’t lament as Apple may have some tricks up its sleeves. For example, with the new A15 Bionic chip, the camera may offer features like,
- Photographic styles
- Smart HDR4
- Deep Fusion
Also, the company is claiming that the camera will come equipped with improved video quality. This should help shoot videos in bad lighting conditions.
Furthermore, while the selfie camera is the same as in the iPhone 2020, with A15 Bionic chip, the iPhone 2022 front camera should help take clearer selfies.
Difference: The iPhone SE 3 camera is better than the iPhone SE 2 camera due to the use of A15 Bionic chip. The iPhone SE 3 main camera has 12 MP and the iPhone SE 3 selfie camera is 7 MP.
iPhone SE 3 vs iPhone SE 2: Design
There is no difference between the two when it comes to design – both are identical. iPhone fans would be disappointed but it is worth reminding them that Apple is known for performance, not design.
Briefly, the new iPhone will have a:
- Bulky forehead and chin
- Fixed touch ID sensor/home button
However, there are two things which are worth bringing to our readers’ knowledge – the iPhone’s weight and glass coating.
The iPhone SE 3 though identical in size to its predecessor – 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3mm – will be 4g lighter, weighing at 144g.
Also, iPhone SE 3 will be coated with the tough glass which the company has coated its iPhone 13 with. This will protect the front and back of the new budget iPhone.
Difference: There is no difference between the design of the new and old iPhone SE phones.
iPhone SE 3: A Quick Summary
The new budget iPhone is very much the same as its predecessor – iPhone SE 2. However, there are some noticeable differences between the two which cannot be ignored. Briefly, the design and camera are the same as in the previous iPhone SE 2. The iPhone SE 3 storage capacity is the same as its predecessors. The biggest difference is however in the performance department, with the new budget phone being a lot faster than the iPhone SE 2.
