Eid-ul-Fitr 2024: Choti Eid ki Meethi Khushiyaan

It is that time of the year again when all of us are looking forward to those meethi meethi saiwaiyaan and karak eidi kay note! Ramadan has come to an end which means, Eid-ul-Fitr is finally here!

Also known as meethi eid, Eid-ul-Fitr is the day when you wake up to the aroma of sheer khurma and wait for those warm eid hugs – it is a feeling that is truly unmatched. Not only this, there are a few things that are only exclusive to Eid in Pakistan.

So, we have decided to compile a list of some of the things which make Eid extra special in  Pakistan.

Some of these things will take you down the memory lane, so buckle up as we take you on this amazing journey.

Chand Raat or Khoob Saari Tayari

Chand raat is a festival on its own in Pakistan. People are hooked to news channels to find out if they should prepare for Eid or another sehri.

As soon as Eid is announced, some people head to shopping malls and markets to get done with the last minute shopping, while others start preparing for the first day of Eid.

These last moment shopping trips to markets include enjoying all sorts of street food, tailor runs, finding the right mehndi application place, buying bangles and loads more!

Eid Cards

While these may not be easily available anymore, Eid cards were once extremely popular. Old school people who like to keep in touch with their roots still send eid cards to their friends and family.

While some people like to keep it formal, others (especially children) let loose their inner shayar and write all sorts of shair-o-shairi on these cards. All of us have heard shairs like:

Eid ai bari dhoom dhaam say

Meri dost uchal rahi eidi kay naam say

Taray gintay gintay neend agai

Subha uth kay dekha to eid aagai!

Sheer Khurma

While all of these chohti chohti khushiyaan have an importance of their own, sheer khurma is an irreplaceable food item of meethi Eid. Sheer khurma and its warm aroma add to the meethaas of Eid-ul-Fitr. It is made in every household and is served early in the morning as a way to begin the festivities of Eid.

Eidi Kay Karak Note

Coming to the most important aspect of Eid – Eidi jama kaise karni hai?

Giving eidi to your younger ones is a tradition followed since time immemorial. While some people are too generous when it comes to giving eidi, others are not too fond of giving it. But we all know how to level up our eidi game!

The most simple trick is to roam around guests, hoping that they will look at ONLY the innocent side of your face and will grant your wish.

Also, pray, my friend! Pray that you get those fresh, crisp eidi notes.

Dressing Up

Excitement for dressing up on Eid starts from the 1st of Ramadan. Picking the right outfit and pairing it with the right accessories is what we all look forward to. Not to forget the photo session that takes place in every household. After all, it is a great way of making memories.

Not only girls, but boys are also fully decked up when it comes to dressing up for Eid.

Family Meetups and Nano Ka Ghar

All of us have a special connection with our nano ka ghar. It is a place where the whole family gathers to enjoy the festivities of Eid.

During Eid holidays, you meet your cousins, old relatives and long lost friends and relive some of the best memories of your life.

All Sorts of Mithai and Food

For a true foodie, Eid is all about food and mithai. After all, you get to eat three times a day after a month!

From Biryaani to Halem to Chicken Tikka, people make all sorts of food items and enjoy them with their friends and family. While some people are lovers of savory food items, others are more inclined towards gulab jamun, jalebi and rasgullas

Eid-ul-Fitr is a blessing of the Almighty Allah for Muslims who have fasted for the 30 days of Ramadan. It is an islamic holiday which is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm by Muslims all across the world, including Pakistan.

While you are busy celebrating Eid, do not forget that there are a whole lot of people who are in need of help. Make sure you share a part of your happiness with them because as they say – happiness increases when shared.

  1. All nice only would have been nicer if the people shown in pics were more Pakistani looking. The girl getting ready seems like a European and the the family meeting at “nano ka gher” looks more like a Malaysian family. Please don’t be afraid of showing and promoting your own culture and faces. We are very beautiful people with dynamic culture so go all out and flaunt it!
