If you think Lamborghini and Bugatti are the fastest cars then think again.
Ever since 1900 when Germany manufactured the first car specially made for racing, the world of sports cars has come a long way. Today, sports cars are the epitome of performance and efficiency. The bulky and masculine design are replaced by sleek and aerodynamic bodies, while the large inefficient engines are replaced by turbo charged efficient engines.
So, if Lamborghini and Bugatti aren’t the fastest, who is?
In this blog, we have listed 9 fastest cars in the world.
1. Devel Sixteen (563 km/h)
Devel Sixteen is a prototype hypercar developed by Devel motors with assistance from American and Italian engineers. This car was launched at the Dubai International Motor Show in 2017.
At the heart of the car is a 12.3 liter V16 engine. The 81mm quad turbos installed in this car further boost the torque and power figures to 5007hp and 5090 Nm of torque.
This car has a top speed of 563 km/h and holds the record for the fastest car in the world.
2. Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut (531 km/h)
This is the fastest car ever made by Koenigsegg. Unveiled in 2016, this car is still second fastest in the world. Each aspect of the car is built for a specific purpose to ensure minimum drag, high stability and extreme performance.
This car has a 5.0L twin turbo V8 engine. On paper, this might not sound impressive, but the engine is actually specialized. This engine has the world’s lightest crankshaft, weighing at approximately 12.5kg that allows for maximum efficiency out of this engine.

Like all other sports cars, this too powers all four wheels of the car for maximum thrust and traction. This engine produces 1817hp and 1617 Nm of torque coupled with a 7-speed single clutch automated manual or 6-speed manual transmission.
The reason why this car is third on the world’s fastest cars list is due to the lightweight build of the car. This car only weighs 1360kg which means extraordinary weight to power ratio. Power to weight ratio of Hennessey Venom F5 is 1.34 hp/kg – that’s beyond impressive.
This car has a top speed of 512 km/h making it the third fastest car in the world in 2022.
