Less than 24 hours after Toyota Pakistan decreased the prices of its entire CKD lot, Suzuki Pakistan has done the same. Yes! Suzuki, too, has decreased prices of its cars by as much as Rs.199,000 in the case of Swift GLX CVT.

Why Is Suzuki Feeling Generous?
While Suzuki Pakistan hasn’t officially provided a reason yet, it is most likely the weakening US Dollar against the Pak Rupee. At least, this was the reason given by Toyota IMC though in our opinion there is more to it than what meets the eye.
Like Toyota, Suzuki has posted dismal sales numbers both for its YOY (year on year) and MOM (month on month) sales.
To put things in perspective, these are the latest Suzuki sales figures released by PAMA:
Alto
July 2021 | July 2022 | Difference |
6110 | 4618 | -24% |
Alto’s MOM numbers:
Jun 2022 | July 2022 | Difference |
7487 | 4618 | -38% |
Wagon R
July 2021 | July 2022 | Difference |
2131 | 282 | -87% |
Jun 2022 | July 2022 | Difference |
2134 | 282 | -87% |
Cultus
July 2021 | July 2022 | Difference |
4213 | 661 | -84% |
MOM:
Jun 2022 | July 2022 | Difference |
2468 | 661 | -73% |
As you see, Suzuki car sales are in the Red. So, while a depreciating US Dollar might make for a good excuse, the real reason behind this price decrease is very likely to be Suzuki’s dwindling sales.
