A Vintage Car In KPK That Can Take You On A History Tour!
A 90-year-old vintage Ford car in Bannu region of KPK is the last remaining belonging of a personality who worked for the Pakistan movement that resulted in the formation of Pakistan. Unfortunately, the vintage car is covered in dirt and grime which is a testament to our negligence in protecting our national treasures. The vintage car is a 1928 Ford Model A which was owned by Khan Bahadur Ghulam. Khan Bahadur worked tirelessly alongside other prominent personalities in the formulation of Pakistan.
The vintage is currently in a dilapidated condition and is rusting away in a small garage inside a village in KPK. It is reported that the car is kept by the decedents of Khan Bahadur and they do not allow outsiders to touch it. Khan Bahadur was a prominent landlord in the Bannu region of KPK even before the independence in 1947 that resulted in the creation of Pakistan. The estate and other belongings of Khan Bahadur have been divided among his decedents. The only remnant is the Ford vintage car and the garage it resides in since 1965.
Back in 1920s, the price of Model A ranged from $500 to $1400 and was available in nine body styles and three colors – grey, green and black. It has four-cylinder engine that produced 40 horsepower and reached a top speed of 105 km/h. It came with a manual transmission and drum brakes at that time. Model A came in coupe, convertible and sedan variants. The car was manufactured across the globe in the UK, Japan, France and Argentina.
