Did you know there’s another way to see if you’re on the Active Taxpayer List? You can download the full Active Taxpayer List (in Excel format) from the FBR website. Simply search for your name, CNIC, or NTN in the list to confirm your status.

What is the Active Taxpayer List?

The Active Taxpayer List (ATL) is a list of individuals and entities who have filed their tax returns and fulfilled their tax obligations. Being on the ATL gives you certain perks, like lower tax rates on things like banking, property transactions, and vehicle registration.

The ATL is published every year on March 1st and remains valid until the end of February the following year. It’s updated regularly (usually every Monday) and only includes those who have filed their tax returns.

Difference Between NTN and Active Taxpayer

People often get confused between NTN and Active Taxpayer status. Here’s a simple breakdown:

  • NTN (National Tax Number): This is a number issued by FBR when you register as a taxpayer. For individuals, your 13-digit CNIC acts as your NTN. For businesses, a unique 7-digit NTN is issued.
  • Active Taxpayer: This is a status given to individuals or businesses who have paid their taxes for the latest financial year and are listed in the Active Taxpayer List.

To make it easier: NTN is the number you get, while Active Taxpayer is the status you earn by filing your tax returns and wealth statement.
