All of these documents with no objection consent shall be submitted to the Excise and Taxation department. A tracking ID will be issued against the request for transfer of ownership. This ID can be used to track the process via the official website of Excise and Taxation.

Upon completion of the process, ownership shall be transferred, and a new smart card shall be delivered to the vehicle’s new owner.

Things to Consider During the Transfer of Ownership:

  1. It’s important to know that the succession certificate shall be processed at the district or city where the vehicle is registered. For example, if a car is registered in Lahore, the succession shall be processed in the NADRA offices in Lahore.
  2. Biometric verification is a must for a succession certificate. If any legal heirs have pending biometric verification, a succession certificate shall not be issued.
  3. During the processing of the succession certificate, if anyone objects or claims the ownership of the vehicle, the process shall be stopped.
  4. Biometric charges are Rs.120 per person.
  5. The whole process can take up to a month, if not more. Succession certificate can take 2 weeks and the same for processing for the Excise and Taxation Department.
