How to Renew Your Punjab Driving License: A Step-by-Step Guide

In our previous two blogs on this subject, we have covered in-depth how to obtain a learner driving license in Punjab and how to obtain a regular driving license in Punjab. This blog is on how to renew your driving license in Punjab.

To facilitate people, the Punjab government has set up many driving license centers all over the province, some with 24/7 working hours. These centers provide smooth, clean and quick services relating to driving licenses.

If you are looking to renew your soon to expire or already expired driving license, you will need to take the following items with you:

Valid CNIC + 1 copy
Driving license (valid/expired)

How to Renew Driving License Online in Punjab

Only those who are above 50 years of age are required to submit a Medical Fitness Certificate signed by a doctor working in any government hospital. This requirement is for applicants of commercial license as well.

Driving License Renewal: A Step-by-Step Guide

Simply follow these steps and get the renewal done quickly.

Select a driving license center, walk in and get a token.
Wait for your turn.
Once your number is called, go to the relevant desk and present your CNIC + 1 copy + driving license.
The attendant will process your data all by him/herself. You do not need to do anything.
He/she will punch your driving license and keep it. You will not get your driving license back.
He/she will do the biometrics of all of your fingers.
He/she will take your picture.
He/she will tell you to buy stamps worth X amount. This is how you pay the renewal fee. This amount would include a late renewal penalty, if applicable. Stamps are available in the center. You do not have to go to a post office.
He/she will ask for a processing fee of Rs.180, which is paid in cash. This includes printing and delivery charges.
In the end, the attendant will print out a form for you to check and confirm details. Once you confirm, he/she will take the form for further processing.
You do not get any receipt from the center.
Your renewed license will arrive in mail through Pakistan Post in 2-3 weeks.

Pro Tip: Take exact change with you. The center may not have change and they do not accept debit or credit cards.
