Design
Vivo mostly brings new phones with modified design and same is the case with the Vivo Y29. It’s rear side has some notable changes in the camera module as you can see a larger ring LED flash light and overall longer module size. You will also find it slightly curvy from the rear side edges compared to the Y28. The dust and water resistance is still there but it is MIL-STD-810H compliant and comes with Schott Glass display protection. However, the large chin is still there which I don’t like pretty much.

Display
You won’t get any major surprises in the Vivo Y29 display. It’s still an IPS LCD display whereas many of its competitors come with AMOLED display at this price. The good news is, its refresh rate has improved from 90 hz in Y28 to 120 hz in Y29.
Display Size | 6.68 inches |
Resolution | 720 x 1608 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~264 ppi density) |
Display type | IPS LCD, 120Hz, 1000 nits (HBM) |
Performance
It’s the highlighting section of this phone as the Vivo Y29 comes with Snapdragon 685 chipset which is over 30% better than the chipset of its predecessor, the Y28 (Helio G85). Moreover, you will get an upgraded GPU, and new OS version making it a strong option if you were looking for better performance in the new mobile.
OS | Android 15, Funtouch 15 |
Chipset | Qualcomm SM6225 Snapdragon 685 (6 nm) |

Camera
Coming to the camera, the Vivo has not changed the cameras much. It has the same dual camera (50MP+2MP) setup at the rear side and an 8MP selfie camera. Don’t worry as pixel count is not the true representation of the final results and the Vivo phones generally produce better quality pictures.
Rear | Rear cameras | Dual |
50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), PDAF
2 MP, f/2.4, (depth) | ||
Rear camera video | 1080p@30fps
Rear camera features | Ring-LED flash, panorama
Selfie | Selfie / front camera(s) | 8 MP, f/2.0, (wide) |
Selfie / front camera video | 1080p@30fps |
Features
In terms of features, there is nothing much to say about except the AI capabilities. Circle to search is available which is a great feature to have at this price. Coming to the sensors, it still comes with a side mounted fingerprint sensor which is a disappointment for me as some phones at this price also offer an under display fingerprint sensor.
Connectivity | Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, QZSS USB Type-C 2.0, OTG |
Sensors | Fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, proximity, compass |
AI | Circle to Search |
Battery & Charging
The Y29 comes with a massive 6,500 mAh battery which combined with an energy efficient chipset will provide an impressive backup. The 44W fast charging support might not be the quickest in this category but it’s decent enough.
Battery | Li-Ion 6500 mAh |
Charging | 44W wired, 50% in 41 min, 100% in 92 min Reverse wired |
Conclusion
All in all, it’s worth buying Vivo Y29 if you are a Vivo lover, as this phone has so many upgrades compared to its predecessor. However, there are some other phones available in the market like Oppo A5 Pro, Infinix Hot 50 Pro, etc., that offer better specs at this price. So, the decision is yours now.
