Sheer Khurma

Sheer Khurma is a common festive dish with a flavorful blend of vermicelli, milk, dry fruits, etc. However, there are multiple types of vermicelli available but sheer khurma is always made with thick vermicelli.
The following is a quick way to make it:
Ingredients:
Milk | 4 cups |
Thin Vermicelli | 1 cup |
Sugar | ¼ cup |
Ghee | 3 to 4 tbsp |
Dry Fruits (dates, cashew nuts, pistachio, almonds, etc.) | As per your choice |
Edible Rose Water (optional) | 1 tsp |
Method:
- Take boiling water and soak your dry fruits in it for a while.
- After 30 minutes, take them out. If you are using almonds and pistachios peel them off.
- Now take a pan, add a little ghee, and roast the dry fruit for one to two minutes. Once done, remove them from the pan.
- Now in the same pan, fry dates until they are soft and have a pleasant aroma.
- After removing dates from the pan, add milk and bring it to a boil at medium heat. Keep stirring it to avoid burning.
- In the meantime, roast vermicelli in another pan by adding a little ghee.
- Once the milk is at the boiling stage, add roasted vermicelli and half of the roasted dry nuts.
- Keep stirring until the vermicelli is cooked and softened. This might be a 10 to 15 minutes long procedure.
- Now gradually add sugar and make sure you keep tasting it to avoid excessive sugar.
- Let it cook until it thickens but not too much.
- Serve it in a pretty bowl or dish and top it up with remaining roasted dry nuts.
Phirni

Phirni is one of the most loved traditional sweet dishes. It is made with a perfect blend of milk and rice, with some cardamom for a fresh aroma. Here is how you can make it this Eid.
Ingredients
Rice | ¼ cup |
Milk | 1 litre |
Sugar | ½ cup (or as per your choice) |
Dry Fruits | As per your choice |
Cardamom Powder | ½ tsp |
Rose Water | 1 to 2 tsp |
Method:
- Rinse the rice a couple of times under the water properly. Once done, keep it aside and let it dry.
- When rice is completely dry, grind it to form a slightly coarse powder.
- Now take a large pot and add milk to it.
- When the milk is heated up, add rice to it. Make sure you keep stirring it to avoid the formation of lumps.
- After cooking it for 3 to 4 minutes, add sugar to it.
- Keep mixing it until the Phirni has thickened.
- Now it is time to add cardamom powder and mix well.
- Check the consistency of the Phirni. If it is up to your requirements, take it off the stove.
- Wait until it cools down and add in the serving bowl.
- Add crushed dry fruits on the top.
Seviyaan

Seviyaan, also known as vermicelli pudding is a Eid special sweet dish. This classic sub-continent sweet is made by simmering fried vermicelli (of your choice either thin or thick) in sweetened milk. Simmer it for as long as you want to get that finest consistency of your choice.
However, there are multiple ways to make it in every household, here is a quick one:

Seviyaan (Vermicelli) | 3 cups |
Sugar | ½ cup (according to your taste) |
Ghee | 2 to 3 tbsp |
Cardamom Powder | ½ tsp |
Milk | 1 and ½ cup |
Method:
- Take a pot and add ghee to it. Add vermicelli and fry until golden.
- Now in another pot, add milk, and sugar and cook it for 5 to 6 minutes.
- Add vermicelli into the milk and let it simmer.
- After a few minutes, vermicelli will soak up the milk.
- Add dry fruits and cardamom powder to enhance the taste.
- Let it cool for a few minutes.
- Now add in a serving bowl.
Shahi Tukray

Shahi Tukray is a delicious royal dish that is made of fried bread which is soaked in a thickened flavorful milk. This simple dessert is a perfect blend of flavors of bread and milk and can be a suitable Eid dish this year.
Ingredients
White Bread | 6 slices |
Ghee | 2 to 3 tbsp |
Milk | 4 cups |
Ground Cardamom | 1 tsp |
Saffron | 1 tsp |
Salt | ¼ tsp |
Condensed Milk | 300 ml |
Dry Fruits | As per your choice (for garnishing) |
Method:
- Take bread slices and remove the corners. Once done, cut them in half in a triangular shape.
- Now take a pan and fry these bread triangles in ghee until golden brown.
- Take a separate pan and add milk to it.
- Let it come to a boil. Now add all the ingredients to the milk except condensed milk.
- Keep stirring it and let it cook for a few minutes.
- It’s time to add condensed milk now. Add it gradually and keep tasting it before adding more to avoid excess sweetness.
- The milk mix is now ready.
- Take a serving dish, place fried bread pieces, and pour milk mix. Sprinkle dry fruits on the top for garnishing.
- Keep it in the refrigerator to cool down and serve.
Fruit Trifle

Fruit trifle as the name suggests is full of fruits showcasing vibrant colors – a perfect treat to your Eid festivities. Not just this, it’s layered in a way that each bite bursts into multiple flavors of custard, cream, fruits, and more.

Custard Powder | 3 tbsp |
Milk (warm) | 3 tbsp |
Milk (room temperature) | 1 and ½ cups |
Sugar | 4 tbsp or as required |
Whipping Cream | ½ cup |
Chopped Mix Fruits (apple, banana, pomegranates, etc) | 2 to 3 cups |
Method
- Take warm milk in a cup and dissolve custard powder in it.
- Take 1 and ½ cups of milk with sugar and heat it.
- Add custard mix in it while continuously stirring it.
- Let it settle for a while.
- Now beat whipped cream until it forms peaks.
- Take a pre-made vanilla sponge or bake it if you have ample time.
- Cube the vanilla sponge cake.
- Take a bowl and chop all your favorite fruits in it. Do not forget to add the seasonal ones.
- Now it is time to assemble your ingredients in a serving bowl.
- Start layering with cake cubes at the base of the dish.
- You can spread your favorite jam on it (optional).
