With the rising technological advancements, Pakistan is all set to introduce the 5G technology. According to the news, the federal cabinet is expected to give approval for the 5G spectrum auction, confirmed by the Federal Minister of IT. Know more about the launch of 5G in Pakistan in the blog.
5G Spectrum Auction Approval
A spectrum auction is a process of providing the 5G radio frequencies to the telecom operators to send signals for mobile internet. Once the cabinet approves the 5G spectrum auction, it will further pave the way for the country’s first 5G services.
Furthermore, it has been confirmed by the officials that six spectrum bands will be offered with the following properties:
- 600 MHz band for initial 5G deployment.
- 2600 MHz band (prime 194 MHz) and 3500 MHz band, prioritized for rapid rollout.
- Additional bands: 700, 1800, 2100, and 2300 MHz.
Besides this, three major mobile phone providers are expected to participate, along with some foreign brands as well. The officials also highlighted the need to invest a large amount in the installation of the towers and improving the overall network system.
When will 5G Officially Make Way in Pakistan?
The 5G service will include big cities such as Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi. The winning bidders will have to launch 5G in the country within five to six months of the auction, as advised by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). This will help in spreading internet connectivity in Pakistan, impacting the overall digital infrastructure.
