16 Years Old To Ride a Bike?
The Punjab Assembly’s Standing Committee has made changes in the policy and has approved the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill 2026. In this, it has been declared that a 16-year-old is legally allowed to ride a motorcycle in the province.
Children from 16 to 18 years of age will apply for a juvenile driving permit for underage driving. These driving permit holders will follow strict rules and regulations for safety purposes.
However, the officials also state the reason for this change. According to them, people driving on the roads without an official license due to a gap in the law is one of the major reasons for road accidents and mishaps. Well, this new amendment in the bill will ensure that those riding bikes on roads are license holders and are aware of the traffic rules and regulations.
Besides this, the officials also highlighted that this initiative will be able to maintain safe and modern transportation for youth. In conclusion, after the committee’s approval, it will now be proposed in the Punjab Assembly, and once it is approved, it will become an official law.
