Can Pakistan Export Cars?

Can Pakistan Export Cars?

We’ll be the first to admit that when Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (AIDEP) 2021-2026 came out last year, we were skeptical. One of its goals – Export left-hand, Pakistan-made vehicles – was lofty if not laughable. We were wrong.

Did you know, Changan has exported its first unit of Pakistan-made X7 to the Oceania region which includes Australia and New Zealand?

It’s true and indeed a proud moment for Pakistan and Pakistanis who are sick to their stomach getting price hike news every two weeks.

The question now remains, is this sustainable. Will Pakistan continue to export cars?

Given the cost of production in Pakistan which keeps going up every month resulting in an increase in car prices, is Pakistan the best place to manufacture and then export cars? The company has not revealed the price of this exported unit in Australia/New Zealand. The people of Pakistan have the right to know this information to know whether they are being short-changed by Changan.
