The winter tyres have groves called Sipes, which help the tyres get a stronger grip and maintain control.
Driving at night
It is highly recommended to avoid driving at night in winter especially if its snowing. However, if you do end up taking your car out, then its very important to maintain a fair amount of distance from other vehicles, ahead or behind you. If its snowing and the roads are slippery, then your car might not immediately stop right after hitting the brakes, so it is important to keep distance from other vehicles.
