The First Tesla Car In Pakistan
Exciting news for all the car enthusiasts out there; For the first time ever, a Tesla car has been imported and landed in Pakistan. The model that has been imported to Pakistan is 75D and white in color and its price begins from $74,500!
Even though many Pakistanis are interested in Tesla electric cars, they are unsure about customs duty and money that has to be spent to import one. In Pakistan, the custom duty on electric vehicles is 50%. In this case, if the 75D model costs around Rs. 7.4 million, then the duty will be approximately around Rs. 3.75 million.
Tesla has no engine, and is environment-friendly, hence its maintenance cost is low. However, if there is a fault in the electric motor of the car, then it will not be repaired in Pakistan. The damaged parts would have to be imported and hence a lot of money will have to be spent. And this is not just limited to motor of the car, it applies to any part of the car. Also, there are no superchargers in Pakistan, so Tesla owners would have to charge their cars at home, which is another drawback for people willing to import these cars.
However, we need to understand that this is just the start of Tesla cars being imported in Pakistan. If people start importing more of them then maybe markets will open up for those customers.
