BMW gets on with the self-driving vehicles program
In response to the market evolution and the plans in the UK to launch self-driving cars by the year 2020, the auto industry is in search of self-driving technologies. Of course, this means all companies involved in the industry would bank on technologies for the production of autonomous vehicle. One of the companies that has jumped on the bandwagon is BMW.
BMW executive chairman, Klaus Froehlich, express concerns and seemed determined to preserve the company’s current business model. So does that mean we can expect the once renowned leader of the auto industry to launch such vehicles soon?
Well, while the company is aware of the fact that it can’t hire 30,000 employees familiar with cloud computing, automated vehicles and programming within a year, it intends on doing so within the next 4-5 years. This makes sense seeing as how governmental regulations, investment and the perfection of self-driving vehicles are necessary for such cars to be seen on roads.
Also, here’s another interesting revelation: BMW is in talks with Apple. “About what?,” you might inquire. Communications between the two have not been revealed but one thing’s for sure: BMW will be collaborating with the multinational technology company in times to come.
Whilst self-driving cars are under development, there are tons of ‘regular’ cars, available, with awesome features, on OLX!
