Selling a second-hand TV
People often make the mistake of assuming selling a television would be the same as selling any other electronic product. A television is heavier, bigger and generally, there’s not much information on them online either. That’s why selling a second-hand TV can feel like a task.
So, what should you do?
Firstly, reach a decision regarding where you would like to sell your television. Some are more comfortable about online transactions while others prefer meeting buyers face-to-face. I’ve found finding buyers online and then, setting a meeting with them works well. Selling online is easy, hassle free and quick.
Talking about selling online, make sure you take good pictures. Presentation matters- a LOT. Ever noticed how a marketing campaign or ad for a simple product, has an impact on your desire to own it? Yeah, that’s because of the way it’s been presented on TV, social media, billboards and advertisements. I have found people gravitate towards personal photos of used products. So, get a camera or whip out your smartphone and get started!
Next, review the market for used televisions. Now, bear in mind there are countless people out there wanting to sell their televisions and so, you’ll find yourself in a pricing war with other sellers. I let buyers come and talk to me about prices and then, negotiate with them. Show your buyers you’re concerned about affordability and their ability to purchase your television set. Note that seller who show concern are more likely to find a buyer!
Lastly, and I feel it is important to mention this, be patient. I know how frustrating it can be to wait for responses from potential buyers. You might get discouraged and contemplate not selling too, but don’t give into the feeling. Trust me when I say someone will respond to your ad because someone in the city will be looking for a television set like yours. So, don’t lose hope just yet!
