How cold weather affects smartphones
All this time I’ve been protecting my smartphone from heat and never thought to explore the possibility of it getting affected by cold weather! Who’d have thought these devices were actually cold-sensitive?
Ever experienced an instant shutdown, even though you could’ve sworn you had charged your phone before you stepped out? Well, it turns out low temperatures affect the lithium-ion batteries and cause them to hang and shutdown even if your phone’s fully charged. Restarting your phone is even worse because your battery will drain even faster. So, wait till you’re some place that’s warm and then, restart your phone.
It’s probable that your smartphone’s screen doesn’t respond too well or easily to your touch. Your smartphone’s screen is also likely to break more easily under such circumstances. So, don’t touch your phone with your hands- use a stylus instead.
Now, this doesn’t mean you should put your smartphone on a fire or near the heater! The best thing you can do is to hold your smartphone in your hand or keep it in the pocket of your jeans. It’s advisable that you use a case to protect the AMOLE screen from low temperatures, too.
