Pakistani Movies to Look Forward to in 2016
It would be an understatement to say that Pakistanis rocked cinemas in 2015. As a proud Pakistani and someone who has come into contact with many people from around the world, esp. from our neighbouring countries, I feel that 2015 was possibly a major comeback for our film industry. Awesome indie movies such as Na Maloom Afraad and Moor struck a string in my heart- one of pride and relatability.
On the other hand, more commercial movies such as Jawaani Phir Nahi Ani and Karachi to Lahore had me in fits. Since then, I’ve been anticipating the release of the following movies that are scheduled to be launched in 2016:
Ah, Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza! Both have shown growth and great acting skills in dramas and shows but what I’m excited to see is how their chemistry will play out on the screen. Trailers show this movie to be a mixture of cross border rom-comedy and action.
Sanam plays an Indian girl and Mirza, a Pakistani boy. Thankfully, the movie’s plot focuses on the duo’s relationship and has filtered out regular Indo-Pak conflicts.
Revenge of the Worthless
If you’re as patriotic about your country as I am or wish to watch an action-packed movie that is somewhat similar to WAAR, you’re going to love this movie.
The plot is based on the awful Swat uprising in 2009. It highlights the lives sacrifices and responsibilities rendered for the safety of our homeland.
Played by Madeleine Hanna, Dance Kahani is about a girl, Hanna, who battles and defies societal barriers and pressure, to pursue her dream of becoming an expert ballet.
So, it appears 2016 will be a refreshing and diverse year, with a little bit of something for everyone!
